Alice flipped a coin and chose the library for the location of her debut prank.

Those walking through a certain hallway near it may hear a whirring sound of machinery, of something being spun at top speed. The sound gets louder as they walk on, until they finally can't. Static cling in the megavolt range will prevent them from even turning around or moving their limbs, as if stuck in an invisible spider web. What do you do?

The mastermind herself will be nearby, hiding by a doorway perhaps, amusing herself with the spectacle.

[Lilah had been doing some reading in the library, as it was always a good idea to keep her mind active, especially since she doesn't have the kind of work she did back home to do so for her. It's not until she's walking back, however, that she runs into anything unusual.

She hears the noise first, and it makes her stand a little tenser, walk a little slower, and it only grows louder and louder. She's carefully approaching it (in this castle, it could be just about anything) but then quite suddenly, she's stuck to something.

It's an invisible wall. It feels like saran wrap, but she cannot even get her limbs to move, or to turn around. It is frustrating, and annoying, and there may be a few choice curse words slipping from her lips as she struggles.

Have fun with that, Alice.]

[ Having all the fun!

Alice could say she didn't plot out what she would do once she actually catches a prey in her snazzy web. But, no, that would be a lie. She did, which is to watch from a nook and indulge in the entertainment like some guilty pleasure.

Even the struggling will prove difficult, unless the woman attempts to walk backwards as slowly as she can to avoid the static from getting worse. ]

[The more she struggles, the less she can move at all. Which means she'll still completely, trying to think of a way to get out. Obviously, force isn't going to work.]

[nihilo]

[ Okay, fine, so watching mental torture isn't as fun as she thought it would be, but one learns over time.

Alice betrays a light chuckle before stepping out of her hiding place, a pen to her lips. A habit. She paces slowly in front of Lilah, keeping far enough from the invisible wall. ]

Fascinating, isn't it? The things unseen.

[succubitch]

That's one way to put it. [Her voice comes out as mostly sarcastic. Moving forward doesn't seem to do anything but get her more stuck, so she's going to try another strategy:

Slowly trying to back up and away from the invisible wall.]

[nihilo]

[ Alice gasps in what might be wonder, she slips the pen between her fingers and feigns a soundless clap. ]

And learning abilities are no less engrossing, of course.

Of course. It's always intriguing to see how one adapts. [She's standing with more composure now that she's managed to back away and free herself.]

[nihilo]

[ Alice gestures to Lilah's hair, because static is never conducive to sleek tresses and all. She steps closer to the static wall, watching her with interest. ]

Humans are the best at it so far.

[succubitch]

There is a reason we've survived so long, despite obvious weaknesses.
[Lilah muses, running her fingers through her hair, trying to fix it a little.]

[nihilo]

[ She grins and takes the pen away from her lips. ]

Obvious weaknesses?

[succubitch]

There's the whole easy to kill factor, for one thing. [Lilah lived in a world with vampires, demons, and all sorts of other things. Humans can be considered quite vulnerable, in comparison.]

[nihilo]

Mortality does have its disadvantages. [ She fishes in her pocket for some makeshift device and turns down that static wall before stepping through and closer to Lilah. ]

Otherwise, how are you?

[succubitch]

Well enough. It had been a rather dull day so far, actually. So maybe I should be grateful.

[nihilo]

[ Alice grins. ]

There's the right attitude. [ She even lets Lilah look at the remote control she taped together, with only a dial and three buttons. ]

[succubitch]

[Lilah leans in to look at the remote control, curious.] That's quite the device you've made for yourself.

[nihilo]

The things you can't see pulls you this way and that. It's funny how people can forget it.

[succubitch]

You would think they wouldn't, living in a castle that often likes to pull us in a million different directions.
