Who: Effy and you!
What: Kissmas tally
When: anytime in December really
Where: anywhere in the castle
Rating: PG-13

No one wants to kiss a girl in black (pants are optional and overrated).

But Effy fancies herself a rebel, ever keen to toe the line, break the rules and see if she gets caught. The only color on her person is her weapon of choice, a sprig of mistletoe tied to her headband. The bright green and red must seem out of place, which is the only warning anyone will get from her. A feeble attempt at getting consent.

It doesn't take a genius to figure it out after days of wandering aimlessly about the castle. At least now she's trawling the hallways with a mission, giving anyone who catches her eye a slow smirk like a predator that has spotted her prey before strutting over to them for the attack. She won't chase those who run, if that's any consolation, but those who don't see her coming might have it worse. She's not above shoving people and disrupting whatever they happened to be doing just to smooch them and run.

Duke is one of the people who wouldn't know anything about kissing people in black, partially because this particular month is the only time that kissing even crosses his mind, and partially because he can't see what anyone is wearing anyway.

So this is a tall blind man, leaving the library with his fingers intently moving across a page. His only reaction to her walking over is a slight tilting of his head - he hears the movement - and continuing to walk and read.

Duke tilts his head a little more toward her, absently placing where she seems to be in the hall and where he is as he walks, and angles his path so that one shoulder is only a little away from the wall.

And continues walking.

Duke manages to stop barely half a step before walking into her, his book going flat up to his chest as he gets the strangest idea that whoever this is, they walked there on purpose.

The odd way he looks about remains - he's staring straight ahead still.

"... Calling for attention usually works far better than path interception."

He pays attention to what's close to him with magic, so he is a bit of a cheating blind man. That, or he's gotten used to it due to being here for two years.

"It is mostly a great deal of details. Medical tomes tend to be that way, and those that involve the nervous system more so." Yes, its is an odd thing to be reading.

He doesn't even twitch at that. Although when she asks her question, he does drop his blank gaze toward the book, like he could see anything on the pages. Habits.

"Depends. This one says very little, but a previous book indicated that it is moderately fragile. Perhaps more so than other systems because if something is wrong with it, one knows fairly quickly."

"... Pardon?"

He goes rather still, trying to figure out exactly what he'd said that could be a hypothesis. If its the part about 'something is wrong, know quickly', he isn't sure if he ought to be taking that as a threat. Probably not. Maybe. If he's a little tense now, that could be why.

Damn castle.

Honestly, he attributes this to the castle's work because people usually don't have much reason to touch him, and the brushing of his hair aside just helps him place why he hasn't turned and left yet.

"You... are taking part in Crowley's winter bet." But his head has tilted more toward her level, so... You've managed to snare him, who ever you are.
