[ Unfortunately in Paradisa, with no means of transportation and ability to trek as far out to the Dead Zone (which seems like a bad idea anyway), Kate proceeded to hole herself up in the game room to distract herself from the odd looks and behavior of the people around her. Their initial attitude with her made her feel as if she had done something wrong. It's one of the worst feelings in the world when you're a kid -- the nagging feeling that you made a mistake and the tension that crops up when among adults.
She sits with her knees drawn up on the couch, but the controller in front of her remains untouched. The opening sequence for the video game replays every couple of minutes. She thought playing the X-Box would help to distract her, but all it does is serve as a reminder that she only has half the fun. She misses Beth, her parents... She actually misses Brussels and that big house that often feels empty when her father isn't around.
Thinking back on her talk with Cloud, she briefly considers asking the castle to send her back.
Then she feels even angrier. ]
