Carson listens, quietly, waiting for her to finish. His expression giving nothing away until he sighs quietly at the end of it. Not in exasperation, but at the weight of what happened.

He sits, motioning Jennifer to do the same. While he can't remember what he did on Atlantis, and the Pegasus Galaxy, he knows that there must have been some tough decisions in his job.

"Jennifer, you're not to blame for that. Yes, you missed the parasite, yes, he nearly died because of it. But what you've got to realise is that Atlantis is in another part of the universe. And since we still misdiagnose cancer, it happens."

He pauses to take a breath. "What matters is not what nearly happened. It's what did. Rodney's alive, aye? And he's alive because of you. You, and Ronon, and John and Teyla. He's alive."

There's another pause as he looks down. "You know as well as I do that there are risks in our profession. People can die because we're not quick enough, or because we didn't see something. But we're only human, Jennifer. And what matters is that we tried."
