Who: Gold, you, and a bunch of statues. Also a fake Kyogre
What: Nightmares not caused by Pokemon
When: The plot of course
Where: In Dream Land. Not that Dream Land.
Rating: G, for now

The cold stirs some long forgotten memory that was lost to time, but that's not important. The water level is rising, enough to soak shoes and make walking uncomfortable if it gets in them. The thick fog from the water clears, revealing a circle of sculptures depicting nine children of varying ages and statures. The expression of shock and disappointment directed towards you is so lifelike, it's as if they were real children who were suddenly petrified.

That disturbing thought aside, the water level is still rising. It's up to the ankles now, and anyone without boots is surely regretting it. A monstrous sound echos through the chamber.

It's a sea monster, terrifyingly majestic as it breaches the surface of the water. It's also made of water itself. And it's clearly the source of the flooding, which is by the way, half way up to the knees.

Gold returned the salute before John turns to face the Kyogre replica.

"I'm counting on you!"

He wonders if that's a proper motivational thing to say. It normally works for him, but he's always known that other people weren't him. So he returns to the task at hand: finding shelter, or at least something to cling to.

John didn't particularly mind at least, he was used to people putting a lot more faith in him than he really thought they should. A line like that was probably nicer than some things his friends would give him.

Keeping an eye on Gold though, John charges forward towards the replica, calling out to get its attention. Not that it really mattered one way or another before buying the other guy the time he needed to find somewhere safe to hang out.

"Hey!!"

Finding something to cling to wasn't working out well, and it would have been extremely awkward to use the statues as an anchor. Who would he use anyway? Red had been holding Yellow, he was certain he'd reap some awful punishment if he held Green, he wasn't familiar enough with Blue, Crys' would come to life and slap him if he even thought about it, Emerald's was too small, and he hadn't the heart to get between Sapphire and Ruby. That left Silver.

And there was no way he'd cling to Silver.

He was so lost in his thoughts, he smashed right into an invisible wall. "What the--Oh damn it Crys!" Figures that stupid thing was in his dreams too.

As he shimmied around the invisible structure, trying to find the door, John had caught the Kyogre's attention. It warbled malevolently at him, as if challenging him.

Gold didn't have long to find that door he was looking for either. Now that John had the attention of the replica, he was wasting not time whipping up a couple of small tornadoes, allowing them to circle around the massive creation. The strong winds buffeting it were enough to make most creatures reconsider this fight, but John wasn't banking on the monster giving up so easily.

Which was why his focus was actually more on what was going on below the Kyogre, where the water was starting to churn around it.

Sensing the threat John was creating, the Kyogre responds by giving a loud cry, which causes torrential rain to start falling.

Meanwhile, Gold was starting to panic. He could start to feel the water pull him towards the focus of the tornado, and he still hadn't hit a corner.

"Crap crap crap!" He needed to find that door and fast.

He better go fast, John's kicking up the winds now that he was being buffeted by rain. The water was starting to really get going underneath the beast, twisting around with the wind and making the pull of the currents stronger. Things were getting messy fast.

The Kyogre can feel its water getting sucked in. It rears back, ready to spray John with a blast of water.

Gold is definitely fighting to find that door, though he has his hope since he reached the corner. "Come on come on come on..." And his hand goes through an invisible opening. Success!

Yeah, John can see this thing isn't taking kindly to him fighting back, and he is going to have to prepare himself to dodge one way or the other because there's no way this thing won't retaliate at him. In the meantime he tires to hold place while keeping up the winds.

He'd look back to see how Gold is doing right now, but he can't afford to look away from this thing yet.

The Kyogre knows a chance when it sees one and unleashes a torrent of water from its mouth. However, because it's unstable, the water comes directly from its body, and it loses mass as it attacks.

Meanwhile, Gold is smooshed up against an invisible wall, unable to fight the current. At least he seems to not be going anywhere for the most part.

That sure would be a useful thing to notice about the enemy you're trying to fight. As it stands John's more concerned with trying to doge the heck out of the way of the stream of water as it races towards him. Lucky for him John is fast, and manages to get the heck out of the way.

With the attack done, John takes the time to glance back and see how Gold is. Seeing him smashed up against... something (maybe?) and not actually to safety was not really what John was hoping to see. "Hey! Are you okay?!"

The Kyogre knows something is wrong with itself and dives into the water to reabsorb its mass.

With the attack cycle done, Gold releases himself from the wall and gives John a half-hearted grin.

"I've been through worse!" He yelled.

John keeps the wind going and the water spinning halfheartedly, but takes the Kyogre diving under as something of a break for himself too, and relaxes just a little, waiting for it to resurface somewhere else.

Mostly he's just glad to hear the other guy is doing alright (probably) still and hasn't got sucked into the water or something. "Yeah, but that still doesn't mean you're okay this time!"

The water shows no sign of any movements or shape that hints at the Kyogre's current location.

"I'll live." Gold coughed. "You don't coddle yourself until after the battle. We gotta concentrate on the bigger picture for now while we can."

"I guess so..."

John isn't sure he completely agrees with that sentiment, considering if they don't worry about him now then he could die during the battle. Or memory die? John's not sure how that'd work, but it sounds like it'd be pretty awful either way. And considering he doesn't know where the pokemon went he might as well make sure the other guy is okay.

He floats forward, trying to peer into the water, looking for movement.

"Look, I ain't going to succumb to my own fears, you hear me?" Gold growled loudly. He knew that tone. He knew what John must have been thinking. "There are people counting on me. On us!" He gestures wildly at himself, then at the floating boy as he trudges through the water, nearly falling on top of some stairs. "Even if I can't do anything here, what good will it do if I just sit around?"

Yet, what better time would it be for that Kyogre to resurface, much bigger than it was before?

John's not sure what that is all about, but this guy clearly sounds like he's got some touchy feelings attached to this memory of his. He really wasn't expecting him to go off like that, and looks at a loss of what to say or even do before the Kyogre pops its head up again bigger and badder than before.

"Oh shit!" John shoots up another few feet into the air away from the pokemon lookalike.

The Kyogre roars, which sounds like a mixture of an actual whale warble and extreme gurgling. The rain starts to pour harder, and the water level seems to be going up faster than ever. The Kyogre rears back and dives at John.

"Shit, get down!" Gold yelled. But even he gets drowned out by the water swirling around him, catching up to him before he can climb up any more invisible stairs.

John does his best, instead of getting down though he flies up and out of the way. The air howls angrily around him, but while he can blow the wind about whatever way he wants he can't control the water directly. The downpour ways him down, and while he escapes the Kyogre he goes down into the water.

Probably not the sort of down that Gold meant, but then again considering his current situation he probably didn't even see it.

The water is dangerously at his waist, even as he keeps climbing stairs.

"Not what I meant dumbass!" He groaned loudly. He prepares to dive in after John, but he doesn't need to. The Kyogre beats him to the punch and as it dives into the water, it raises the water level, submerging everything.

It was a nice thought though, and John sure would have appreciated the gesture had he been aware of it. At the moment he's mostly struggling to swim up out of the water, which is hard when it's churning and twisting around him the way it is, and his own ridiculously long hood is actually getting wrapped up around him and making it that much harder to swim.

That and the water level rising the way it is. This is definitely not going the way John expected it to.

Slowly, the water darkens. Swift currents pass by John in random directions before two red eyes appear before him.

Hello John, it's Mr. Kyogre.

Basically everything John didn't want to deal with at the moment. Struggling against the water John does his best to reverse the flow using the wind to push at the water. It's hard this far underwater, but he's doing his best to shove it all into Kyogre's face.

The Kyogre ain't having none of that wind shit. Annoyed, it opens up its jaw and begins to counter John's attempt at countering by inhaling everything below the surface of the water. If the water around was dark, the swirling vortex into the monster's maw is impossibly darker.

And hey, was that Gold's body getting sucked in?

It's all pretty horrifying, and John knows the one thing he doesn't want to do is go into that mouth. Unfortunately struggle as he might and push against the water with his powers, the current is stronger than the breeze down there.

He can't do anything for himself. He sure as heck can't do anything for Gold as he got pulled down besides make a snatch for him, and when he misses going tumbling down into the darkness that is Kyogre's gaping maw.
