Nightmare Plot
Who: Katniss and You!
What: Welcome to the 77th Annual Hunger Games ...
When: Nightmare plot
Where: The Arena (and for those familiar with it, The Seam.)
Rating: Definitely R for blood, gore, and the death of children.
The first thing you hear booming is the voice, from your glass tube as you slowly rise up from ...where? You're not sure. All you know is that you are trapped in a glass tube and you are going up. And there's that man - that so jovial man calling out over a loudspeaker from somewhere.
"Welcome to the 77th Annual Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor! It's time for the countdown .... "
And there you are, finally, in the light, in a giant semi-circle where the dirt is suspiciously piled high. There's a long, green field, cut off by a fence that says 'High Voltage'. There are woods to one side of the fence, and to the other, a low valley filled with wooden houses. Somewhere, smoke is rising from the coal mines.
"10..."
When you look around - you see ... children. Dozens and dozens of children on similar pillars. Some look scared. Some look determined. Some look ... well you never really thought a child could look murderous. They range from eleven to seventeen, and you might even recognize Clove.
"9...."
On one end, there is Katniss. Looking pale, sick, but there's a fire in her eyes that says she knows what this fight is. When your eyes lock, she looks surprised to see you there, but all she does is tap her nose once, then jerk towards the field in front of you.
"8 ...."
There you will see the cornucopia - a broad, metal one. Filled with supplies, and supplies are spread out all around it. Weapons are right inside, and backpacks are spread in a ever-widening circle around. Katniss nods towards the packs - go for the supplies. She'll get the weapons.
"7...."
She looks to the woods after that.
"6...."
First rule of the Games - always know where to run.
"5 ... 4 ...3 ... 2...1....Let The Games Begin!"
Katniss jumped off the pillar like a gazelle and sprinted right towards the bow and arrows. A large muscled boy came at her from the left; she feints, then jumps, flipping to grab him by the neck with her legs and slam him to the ground, before rolling to her feet and keep running. She grabs a sword, and the bow and arrows, taking the arrow in hand as she sprints back towards you, screaming, "RUN! RUN!"
The Clove-look-alike comes at her from the side, and Katniss doesn't even hesitate, she steps smoothly back and slices her throat open with one smooth, soldierly motion, before running forward again.

There is a slight hint of admiration in his voice. Kin knows kin as she put it.
“Is this supposed to be something to add a little spice to proceedings?”
He's eyeing her up with a calculated look. He briefly considers killing her to make a statement but decides against it. In a world as volatile as this one he'd need a tour guide right?
no subject
She shook her head, briefly, before starting through the forest, because some part of her just wanted to see what happened. The destruction of her home - the death of so many of her people ...
"It's a lesson. For me."
no subject
"A lesson that made you what you are...am I right?"
no subject
She whispered as they came to the crest of the hill, and they can see the Capital's hover vehicles dropping firebomb after firebomb down on the Seam. She watched, with an almost detatched fascination.
"The lesson that made me who I am started much earlier than this. I didn't learn it, though, until the end."
no subject
He's watching the hover vehicles too, with an equal fascination. It really does feel like something Moriarty would do.
Although Snow would probably have reasons, Jim would just order it because he felt like it one morning.
no subject
She looked over at him again, at the look on his face, her lips pursing slightly as she observed him. Then the firebombs, then him again.
"Why? Why do you do what you do?"
It was the one thing lingering in her mind - why people would do this to one another. Maybe the only person to be able to answer her would be a complete and total psychopath.

He turns to face Katniss.
"I could give you a long winded speech about how good cannot exist without evil...but that doesn't quite cover it."
"The truth is the world needs people like me to liven it up...somebody to bring excitement to the dull boring sucession of events that is life.
"Tell me I'm wrong...tell me being in my charming yet unpredictable company isnt a little...thrilling?"
no subject
"You know what I get from that? Good can live just fine without evil - but evil gets bored if it doesn't kick up its heels a little. Usually by putting a knife in someone else's throat."
She gave Moriarty the due consideration he was due, before answering frankly, "Well, I'm paranoid enough to wonder when you're going to try and kill me -- so I'm definitely not bored."
Her adreneline was up. Her body was poised. Fight or flight instinct - and if it came down to it - she'd fight.
no subject
Moriarty turns to face Katniss with a sigh and a longing look on his face.
"You know...you might have made an excellent distraction for me back home"..."I certainly wouldn't have underestimated you the same way President Snow did."
It might be worth noting at this point the knife hasn't left his hands the entire time he's been speaking.
"But enough chit chat...shall we finish our game?"
no subject
One corner of her mouth twisted. "That always seems to be the problem, doesn't it. Adults always underestimate children. But no, you wouldn't have. You have a unique perspective where you see the worst in everyone."
She knows where the knife is. Does he know where her arrow is.
"See, there you go. Making the same mistake as the rest did. I never thought this was a Game."
no subject
"That's what life is!"
That last part is yelled more then spoken.
"But I'm not talking about that one, no no no. I'm talking about the one between me and you."
no subject
She exhaled, before tilting her head. "...but you mean this one. This Game."
no subject
"Got it in one" he says triumphantly.
"In this hostile environment, with our mutual distrust, how long before our similar natures kick in...How long can we supress what we truly are hmmm?"
He's casual strolling forward, not fazed even slightly. It's almost like he's encouraging her to strike.
no subject
"Kin knows Kin - and a killer knows a killer. I told you that. But you're more than me. Your evil goes a lot further than mine ever will."
no subject
He gives the explosions in the background another look before returning to matters at hand.
"But don't try to convince yourself that you couldn't end up like me one day.-One little push is all it takes."
no subject
She whispered as she continued to move, before she stopped, and looked at him. "It just takes me. Deciding I want to be me, and not you."
no subject
He scoffs.
"Oh Katniss, you were doing so well."
no subject
no subject
"Then do it Mockingjay. Teach me a lesson. Teach me a lesson about your will before I get to your...admirers."
no subject
no subject
"Just plain old killing is unimaginative."
no subject
She said warily, scooting around.
