Sophie's eyes were closed at first, but the place where she was sleeping started to feel harder under her back. She could hear the soft trickling of water nearby. Water..? But why would water be indoors? Her eyes slid open.

She wasn't indoors at all. She was outside lying on her back. The smell of the grass and flowers tickled her nose. How did she get out here? She couldn't remember. Sophie puzzled over this while still lying on her back.

Mufasa turns, leading the way to the castle.

"Where do you hail from, Sophie?"

She followed after the lion, trying to take in everything around her as she walked. "I live with Asbel in Lhant."

"Oh? What is it like there?"

"It's very nice. There is a picture of Asbel and his family hanging on the wall. Asbel is younger in the picture, and so is Hubert." Sophie then thought that maybe Mufasa was talking about Lhant in general.

"Lhant is nice. But there aren't any lions there."

"Hmm. Not surprising; I've yet to hear of a case where the two live in harmony."

It was a little puzzling, really. It wasn't like lions were completely incapable of living together with non-carnivores. He had a monkey for a friend and a hornbill for an assistant, after all.

"And what is it that you do in Lhant, Sophie?"

"I live with Asbel. He works very hard to take care of the people." There was a certain measure of pride in her voice. She knew Asbel when he was just a boy, and now got to see him as confident leader. All of her friends were so strong.

"He sounds like a fine friend to have."

Mufasa heads into the lobby. The temperature is distinctly warmer inside. He shakes himself out slightly, as if to rid his body of the cold.

"Much better."

Sophie nodded in agreement. It was strange to travel without Asbel, but she was sure he would be by soon. In the meantime, Mufasa was very kind.

Seeing Mufasa shake himself, Sophie did the same thing. It felt funny.

"Do you have other friends?" Mufasa asks as he walks over to the couch, then lies down against it.

"Oh, yes." Sophie brightened thinking of her friends. "Cheria lives in Lhant. She lets me tend a garden near her house. There is also Hubert, and Pascal, and Captain Malik, and Richard. They are all very nice."

"Ah, so you have yourself a large group of friends." He nods in approval. "It is good to surround yourself with those who care for you."

"Yes, it is." Sophie knew that truth better than anyone. "Is it easy to make friends here?"

Mufasa nods with a smile. "There are many kind people here who I am sure would like to be friends with you, Sophie."

"I hope so. I like to make friends." And it looked like she was making one now.

"Then you will find yourself with no shortage of them, I'm sure."
