The elves are certainly patient.
They've left him alone for the past week to recuperate and settle down in the castle, even though his wounds aren't so grave; mere cuts and bruises, sore feet from too much climbing on jagged rocks and the chafing of silver chain against the back of his neck. It's the hurts unseen that will be the end of him, he thinks, and keeps that to himself.
Now Frodo just sits in bed as ordered, though he wishes he can pace around the room and walk off his anxiety. He's kept the ring on its chain around his neck, his shirt unbuttoned so they can see. But he doesn't think he can volunteer to take it off now, or put it on some pedestal that will always be too far away from him. The parting would be too difficult.
"I would keep it with me always," he suggests, by way of reassurance.
