Not so odd when said by the Queen of England, thank you! ...Or by anyone else from the 16th century, really. But Anne just smiles politely in response to the name introduction. She'd adjusted to not being recognized, and even when she is, not having people rush to catch her favor. Even if the English people hated her, she misses home so much. This child's accent only makes her feel more out of place. (American, she wants to say, she's met so many people here from that world).
But seeing something like this, a little girl playing, does warm her heart and make her feel a bit better about being here. Or is it worse? If this child doesn't have any parents here, that will be another orphan to take care of. Something needs to be done about this...
"Matilda. I am Anne." She risks stepping closer, lifting her skirts a bit so she doesn't get too much dirt on them. The snow everywhere else may be cold, but at least it's clean. "What game is this?"
