"Nothing does," he replied, in a tone that seemed to indicate it should have been self-evident. He didn't really expect it to, either. But it did help, for awhile, and that was what he needed. Even a short-lived reprieve was better than nothing. His current need was greater than it usually was, and his patience worn thin, but that was all that had really changed.
