Who: Hermione Granger, James Potter and featuring Arthur Potter
What: the return of a magical child
When: the beginning of baby plot
Where: the resort
Rating: PGish
Hermione knew that this was coming, yet a part of her wasn't certain that the child would come back. So when she woke and found herself back with James, she wasn't sure if she should feel relieved or distressed. The last time they had Arthur, there was awkwardness and a bittersweet farewell. Arthur would be a year older now: aware and learning. Perhaps old enough to attempt walking.
She tried not to wake James as she moved to look at their son. Their son. Now about the same age as Harry when he lost his parents, though Hermione tried hard not to make that comparison. She found Arthur asleep in his crib, looking so much like James and Harry. Hermione stroked her son's face before carefully lifting him into her arms.
She tried to move with slow steps but Arthur stirred as they drew closer to James. As if he could sense his father and wanted to be awake to see him.
"It's all right, Arthur," Hermione soothed him. "Mum and Dad are here."
