Messing about in the kitchen.

Who: Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins
What: Both hobbits decide to go down to the kitchen and start cooking! It is what hobbits love best.
When: 2nd June
Where: Cair Paradisa kitchens
Rating: E for everyone. Lots of mess and fun to be had.

Bilbo had managed to find himself the castle kitchens after a long and arduous journey down the many staircases. This place was rather huge for a hobbit, as he was not used to spending his days within such a grand building. He was missing his hobbit hole and his hobbit activities he used to get up to. So, the kitchen it was. After meeting Frodo, his relation, he decided to visit the kitchen for some cooking.

It was what hobbits loved. Bilbo missed the smell of home cooking and some baking sounded like just the right thing. He entered one of the castle kitchens, as he acquainted himself some. Now, what would they bake first?

Decisions.

Frodo goes to take a piece of sandwich for himself, chewing quietly as Bilbo talks. A stray thought occurs to him that he should ask if it could be... Could it be? He doesn't want to have to explain the Ring to his cousin if he hasn't yet encountered it.

"What is it?"

Frodo stumbles back a bit in reflex and fights the urge to reach out over the metal resting heavy against his chest. The last time Bilbo thought he meant to take the Ring from him was a stuff of nightmares, he would rather not tempt him again. But the thought of lying leaves a cold feeling in his stomach.

"What's gone, Bilbo?"

Oh, yes indeed. Frodo can't help but frown as he grips his fists at his sides to keep from reaching for the Ring. He can't hear its voice as clearly here, but the call is still strong, silent as it may be.

"I might know what you speak of, Bilbo. A ring. You granted it to me in your will along with Bag End," then remembering how morbid that might sound-- "Only because you meant to go on another adventure, a more pleasant one, so you had me hold it for safekeeping."

Frodo takes a step back. Last time his cousin seemed like he was ready to do terrible things just to hold the Ring one last time, but still he fights the urge to reach out to his chest where it rests against his skin. The thought of lying doesn't occur to him, though.

"Yes, I have it in my keeping, and yes, this is your future though I promise not to spoil you with the details, that would make life quite dull, would it not?" He tries a meek smile. "But I am to keep it hidden, Bilbo. I was told by Gandalf to."

He thinks even Gandalf would say it is unwise to want to know what happens next, for reasons even the wizard might choose not to say.

"I do," he wanders slowly across the room, hands in his pockets to keep himself from fiddling with the Ring. It would give him so much comfort but he must do without for now or else his cousin might steal it from him in the night and then where will he be it might trouble his cousin more. "But I am never to use it, for neither of us were ever its master, and it serves one greater and more evil."

"Somewhere hidden, Bilbo, where few would know or be able to take from me."

Although really, on a chain around his neck is hardly the safest place to keep a treasure, but he thinks he would know if anyone even dares to reach for it. The Ring already feels so much like a part of him, an extra limb, and he would fight to the death to keep it. His fear is that he might not be strong enough to let it go when the time comes.

"Worry not, I should think Gandalf would approve of where I keep it!"
