Land Bird at Sea
Who: Larry Foulke & OPEN
What: Paying a visit to the USS Midway Museum. Because jets.
When: June 21st, 12 PM - 4 PM
Where: USS Midway
Rating: PG as usual
It's been quite some time since he's got to see a bird up close. A real one, anyway. And by 'birds' we of course mean military aircraft, because after all, what else would a pilot be interested in? It's been almost seven months since he got to be around one, and even though he was a land pilot on board an aircraft carrier, being around them had a nice sense of familiarity.
Initially, he was content with the idea of just staying in his hotel room and letting his leg rest, but after he had seen a fly-by of a couple of F/A-18 Hornets (which meant there must have been a naval base around somewhere), he decided to give exploring the city a shot. When he learned of this 'aircraft carrier museum', his interest was certainly peaked.
And there he was (on his crutch again, no less), on the deck of the carrier and currently admiring its display of the F-14 Tomcat. He had made a note to himself to check out their simulators later - maybe a Navy aircraft carrier would have better simulators than the Aerial Fighter game at Paradisa was.
It was a shame that F-15s weren't naval aircraft. He wouldn't have minded seeing a bird like he used to fly again.
