Heroism is a badly remunerated occupation
Who: Felix, Ashura, Thamuris, Mildmay, Howl, and Gideon
What: Felix is recovering from his wounds. Some people are less than pleased with him.
When: Friday June 21st, throughout the day
Where: His room at the hotel

Under any other circumstance, waking up here would have been quite pleasant. The bed under him was soft and clean and warm and a definite improvement over their sleeping arrangements for the last few days. The room was richly decorated and well appointed and had a rather splendid view of a cityscape that was still a marvel to him. In addition he was finally clean and dressed in soft black cotton pajamas, after having been allowed a hot shower, albeit with Ashura having to hold him up pretty much the entire time. Which was where the downside came in. While he was alive and healed, he felt dreadful. Every time he opened his eyes he could feel the ache in his lower leg, and moving at all was a difficulty.
More difficult was the look on concern on the face of the others. Felix tries to remind himself those looks would be several times worse if he had stood by and allowed Mildmay to die. No matter what they might have said, he could not have allowed it. He hadn't intended to make himself into a sacrifice, but once it happened, it seemed the only logical choice.
He suspected no one else would see it that way, but there was only so much he could sleep to avoid that recrimination, especially when his dreams held only bloody jaws.
