Whatever you were in the middle of doing, you suddenly find yourself in what appears to be an abandoned garage, in the blink of an eye.

There is a bunch of weird-looking technology everywhere, cables and wires connected to machines lined with blinking lights. There are screens all over the room, with grids and maps on some of them and scrolling, foreign text on others. One of the screens projects a constantly rotating image.

There's also a platform in the middle of the room. And you all happen to be standing on it.

[One second, you're doing something in Tokyo. The next, you're standing on top of a platform in a garage. Then, just as quickly as you arrived, there's a blinding light (and was that the mystery lady from the fireworks festival staring in shocked confusion at your sudden appearance?), and you reappear in the middle of a deserted Tokyo street.

What the hell.

The neighborhood you've been deposited in is completely uninhabited. No people, no cats, no insects. Nothing. If you move more than two miles in any direction, you'll hit an invisible wall.

So… really. What the hell?]

Hey-!!

[She didn't just imagine that woman, right? Utena twists around, looking for any sign of her, slowing down when she notices the neighborhood. The change of scenery is shocking, but the silence is disturbing. It's quiet, quieter than Tokyo has any right to be, and a chill runs down her spine. She's still for only a moment, though, and in an instant she dashes towards the nearest building and starts to bang on the door. There has to be someone around here, right?!]

[Noble Six noticed the other things from getting her, but the in between and the fireworks woman really could wait. The banging noise was much more important... Though she knows it's possibly a castle resident. It'd be stupid to think she was alone in this.]

Quiet down. If there are any threats here, you are going to draw them right to you.

[Utena stiffens and lowers her fist, before she turns to face the woman behind her. She doesn't recognize her, but if she had to guess, it's probably someone else from the castle]

But...what about the people here? [That had been her main concern; she hadn't even considered enemies until Six mentioned them, though she probably should have, all things considered] I mean, this is a major city! There should be someone around... right?

[Despite her excitement, she does keep her voice quiet, if firm. But, they need to find somebody. This situation wasn't right, and Utena wanted answers.]

[Six pauses, giving the surroundings another glance.] People? What people? The place is empty of native life down to the insects. Someone should be here... But there's nothing.

We need to investigate, but knocking on doors isn't going to help us.

[princelyspirit]

[Utena furrows her brow as she glances down. Six has a point, but where are they supposed to start? She doesn't even know where in Tokyo they are right now; if only they were closer to the hotels, or a landmark... wait a minute! Utena's eyes light up as she jerks her head back up, looking back at Six]

You've heard of Tokyo Tower, right? It's that giant, orangish-red tower up in Shiba Park. If we can get up there, maybe we can get a look of what's going on - not just here, but in the rest of the city!

High ground would give us a better idea of what we're getting into. And we may find others on the way.

I don't know the city well. I wasn't born on Earth. Do you know the way?

Not from here, no, but I just visited the place. If we can get out of this neighborhood, we should be able to find it - I mean, it's not like the thing's hard to miss.

[The sudden jumps make Jane uneasy on her feet, and she wobbles when she finds herself in the abandoned street. Hadn't she just been-]

What in the world was that...?

[Maladict glances around, taking the signs of complete desertion as something far from a good thing]

I knew something would happen to bollocks it all up.

If it's that tall, it wouldn't be. Let's get moving.

Right.

[And with that, she looks up at the cityscape, and picks the direction that she hopes will take them out of the neighborhood and to the wider city. While her focus is on getting out, one thing does nag at the back of her mind]

...I'm Utena, by the way. Utena Tenjou.

[If she's going to be wandering along for god knows how long with this woman, they can at least make introductions. If nothing else, having a name would be more useful than just going, "hey, you!"]

[Following Utena, checking to make sure she still has her weapon.] Noble Six. Just call me Six.

Any combat experience? In case this isn't a peaceful trip?

Some...

[Utena, however, isn't so fortunate in the weapons department. Now lacking a sword, she keeps her eyes peeled for anything that can be used as an improvised weapon. It doesn't have to be pretty or polished, it just needs to be able to keep some distance between her and whatever comes at them]

I was part of the expedition back in May, and I fought off a dinosaur with my teacher when we were all trapped in Jungle Land. That's about it, though - I mean, I've been training, and I used to do fencing back home, but that's not exactly real combat.

Enough to work with. More than some residents.

And what about you? You seem like you're pretty experienced with this sort of thing.

[It's just a guess. Her attitude about combat seems cool and professional, like someone who's seen her fair share of fights.]

[Luke was glancing inside a shop when he finds himself in the middle of an abandoned street.]

Eh?! Where did all the people go?

It's what I was trained for.

[Conan doesn't allow himself time to be shocked. He casts one look around his new surroundings, and then darts off to one side of the street to find better cover.

Every instinct told him that any sudden change in surroundings was dangerous. That was the castle's pattern, after all.

He could look for allies after he was in a more strategic location.]

Luke!

[Conan's voice is quiet and pitched to catch the other boy's attention.]

Quickly! Over here!

[He'd found a patch of shadows beside an entranceway.]

[Well, that's not an entirely horrible idea, trying to find the people who usually inhabit this city. There's no real sign that they'll be inside the building Utena is trying so hard to get into, but Cass comes over to look in the window anyway.]

Don't see anything...

[She looks over at Utena now, concerned for her.]

Will be okay. We just have to... stay calm.

[Well, that's new.]

[Best priorities ever, right here.]

[Luke doesn't waste any time. When he hears Conan calling him over, he'll dash to where he is.]

What's going on? Are we in danger?

Oh-

[Oh, hey, person. Utena takes a deep breath, and shakes her head]

I'm fine, really, just- this is the biggest city in Japan, you know? It shouldn't be so... empty.

I don't know yet. But something like this wouldn't happen without a reason. So its probably best to stay out of sight for now.
