[In the lobby tonight, there is a small girl who looks like she belongs in a castle this grand. Her blue dress matches the decoration style better than most residents' clothing, her long skirts and stay intricate and befitting a higher class daughter.

This girl, however, looks extremely confused, cautiously wandering through the grand entrance and seeming for all the world like she has no idea what's going on.

Because she doesn't.

Last she recalls, she was on a ship, heading home, and this place is like nowhere on The Jackdaw at all, not that she's seen.

She takes a cursory pass around the lobby, then takes a seat on a sofa and clutches her doll to her chest.]

It'll be all right, Dolly. Father is with us now, this must just be part of the adventure.

[An adventure.]

[He just narrowly avoids sighing. Why must children be like this?]

All on your own?

No, Father is with me, I think he must be around somewhere. Perhaps he went on an errand. So I thought I should wait for him here.

[Well, at least she's smart. Or, at the very least, possesses some common sense. Most children would have likely started wandering.]

And who is your father?

His name is Edward Kenway, he's a ship captain. I sailed to meet him, and now we're going home!

Edward Kenway?

[Haytham's caught off-guard. If that were the case, that meant...]

[He hadn't been able to make much sense of this place, but it would seem there was even less to be made than he originally thought. He doesn't understand the purpose of it. Why take her at this age? Why take Connor from his years as a teenager? Why take their father just as he was on his way to London?]

[He's not sure he wants to exactly explain all of this to her. It's hard to say whether she'd be obstinate in her disbelief or if she'd be more accepting of it. Haytham decides it's best to leave conversations like that up to their father. No doubt he'll be relieved to see her, the child he actually knows.]

He's here, [he opts for instead, confirming her earlier assumption.]

[Jenny is oblivious. She's met a bunch of different, strange people, but then again, she crossed an ocean on her own, so meeting new people is par for the course, really. As long as Father is around, that's really the only part that matters.

She smiles at her doll, then at the man.]

I knew he would be. He said he wanted to care for me now, and so I knew he would stay where I am.

[She has such blind faith in their father. Haytham supposes he shouldn't be all that surprised. He was much the same when he was her age. Still, it's a strange thing to see in her. The sister he knows and remembers rarely smiled.]

He is a good man and true to his word. I'm sure once he's found you again, he won't let you out of his sight.

Are you his friend? Are you a pirate like the other friend of Father's I met?

[Because you look even less pirate-y than James...]

No, I'm not a pirate. [And lbr, he'd be a terrible pirate.] I think perhaps anything beyond that is best left for your father to explain.

Oh. [There's a note of dejection. Jenny is from a station that necessitates she know when she's being brushed off.] Well, do you know where he is? I've been here for quite some time, really, and I'm getting hungry...

I can't say that I do. [Father son bonding hasn't been a thing. Haytham doesn't really expect it to.] But I'm sure he'll come by here soon enough.

Oh. Well, alright then. Thank you, sir.

Of course, miss.

[He gives her a small nod before turning to be on his way. That's about all he can do, he reckons.]

[Jenny watches him go with an air of disappointment. If he knows her father, why wouldn't he help? Or at least give a name, so that she might mention him when Father appeared?

Sigh. Grownups.]
