[In the lobby tonight, there is a small girl who looks like she belongs in a castle this grand. Her blue dress matches the decoration style better than most residents' clothing, her long skirts and stay intricate and befitting a higher class daughter.

This girl, however, looks extremely confused, cautiously wandering through the grand entrance and seeming for all the world like she has no idea what's going on.

Because she doesn't.

Last she recalls, she was on a ship, heading home, and this place is like nowhere on The Jackdaw at all, not that she's seen.

She takes a cursory pass around the lobby, then takes a seat on a sofa and clutches her doll to her chest.]

It'll be all right, Dolly. Father is with us now, this must just be part of the adventure.

Oh. [A chuckle, a shrug.] Well, if you already know, then there is no need for me to treat it like a surprise, hmm?

Tell me about your father. I do not know much about him.

[toyboat]

I don't know so much about him either, really. We'd only just met before we came here, you know. His name is Edward Kenway, and he left before I was born, to make money in the New World. He has a ship called The Jackdaw, and he's captain of the whole thing! He's from Wales, even though I'm from Bristol, and he never wrote very much to Mother after he left. But he never knew of me until now, no one ever told him.

I do like him. He must be very strong and brave, to have been out there for so many years. I think he loved my mother very much, but she was sad that he wanted to leave her to sail the ocean, and so she went back to my grandparents.

[assassino]

[Aww. That's pleasant. Ezio has a brief moment of pride. You go, Edward. You go back for the kids you left behind. Ezio never will.]

I imagine he did not want to leave her, but sometimes a man's duty to his family is greater than his need to be with his family. You are not cross with him for it?

[toyboat]

No, he didn't know of me, so I can't be cross. I believe he would have come back if he knew. He says he would have. My mother was cross though, she said he drank and never had a job for long, and that he always just talked of becoming rich from sailing. But she loved him anyway, even after all of it. When she was happy, the stories were nicer.

[assassino]

And he has grown up now, hmm?

[toyboat]

Maybe. I think so. He was very busy before we met, so maybe he learned good things from that work.

[assassino]

Hard work tends to have that effect on men.

[toyboat]

He did work hard. Rose says he can provide well for me now.

[assassino]

Who is Rose?

[toyboat]

My family's servant, she's the one who wrote Father to tell him of me.

[assassino]

I see, I see. And she has not joined you here?

[toyboat]

No, she stayed in England with my grandparents while I sailed to meet Father.

[assassino]

Then who is it who accompanied you all that way? Surely a girl your age would have a chaperone.

[toyboat]

I didn't have a chaperone. I suppose maybe there was no one to send. The sailors looked after me, but mostly I took care of myself.

[assassino]

That seems rather unusual to me, both that your father would trust sailors and a girl so little would have so much bravery! I am very impressed, piccolina.

[toyboat]

Father trusts his crew very much. But thank you! It was very hard at first, but I rather like the seas now.
