It's taken awhile, but things are more or less back to the usual schedule that Cass had fallen into in her time in Paradisa. The day always started with her two hours in the gym, it was a habit she'd had her entire life, but after her death and return she'd taken some time off from the things that felt like they didn't mean anything.

Why waste her time wailing on a punching bag when she wasn't getting the usual happy feelings from it? So she'd taken a break, but now that break was over. Hitting things feels good again.

Strolling past Tim's room and seeing his name missing does not feel good.

Looking for names as she passes doors has become a habit too, it's just something she subconsciously does as she makes her way through the castle. She looks for those important names to be sure everyone is safe and sound, no one is missing.

Today, someone is. The world narrows into a fine point and she must stand and stare at that door for a full ten minutes before the shock wears off and Cass realizes that in a way, this is like the end of the world. It's the end of Steph and Tim and Cassandra and the home they had made thanks to this castle, and what is left now?

So she puts the gym on hold, jogs through the hallways scanning each name plate, stopping at the ones that have similar letters and staring and sounding out the names and moving on each time. On the second pass, it's too clear there was no mistake.

Gym visit forgotten, Cass turns back and puts herself on the now familiar path to Stephanie's room. Things are still awkward between them, but if Steph doesn't know yet it doesn't seem right for her to find this out from anyone else. She has no idea what to say, her mind is a blank the entire walk and even when she's standing in front of Stephanie's door and lifting a hand to knock she still doesn't know how she's going to do this.

Belatedly, she realizes using the door at all is going to tip Steph off that something's not right. Oops.
