Who: Sam Winchester and YOU.
What: A Day in the Life
When: Today, March 26
Where: The Pie Hole, the Library, and That Giant Space between the castle and the city.
Rating: PG
Notes: Prose or actionspam is welcome. Just pick a place and have your character run into him.
Sam is trying not to let the fact that Dean is gone get to him.
This feat is next to impossible because it's Dean and Dean being gone always gets to Sam. It's like he's missing a part of him. But at the same time, Dean's been back and forth to the castle so many times that Sam can't help but try and pretend that he's used to it. At least he knows that back home, Dean is safe. He's safe, and he's out, and he's going to get to have the life that Sam was having here.
Maybe in that respect it's kind of appropriate that Dean was gone. Neither of them get to have each other, but on some level they get to have something that isn't ruled by angels and demons. In a sense, Sam knows that he's only trading one prison for another, and the castle isn't the ideal situation, but after having been there for this long, it's home -- whether he wants it to be or not.
In the end, it's still not any better because Dean's still gone.
Regardless, he tries not to dwell on it. He simply goes about his day as though nothing has changed, because outside those people who know him, nothing has. He starts off his day at the Pie Hole, working behind the counter today and talking to the various customers.
At lunch he heads back to the castle to let Alice and Cooper out for a walk. It's a pretty nice day, so he lets them run around for a bit, while he sat on a bench nearby. The two of them are pretty friendly, so if you get ambushed by a German Shepherd or a Newfoundland, Sam apologizes in advance.
After work is over, he heads back to the castle and wanders up to the library, because he lives there. No really, he does. He heads over to the history section, picks up a text on Eastern European folklore (it's where he left off) and drops himself into one of the seats to read. He'll be there for a while, so feel free to bug him.
