[Max got to the Deathmatch early to try and decorate a bit, not that she's looking for anything fancy. She just wants to make sure there isn't anything covered in dust. Then she pays whoever's behind the bar for the drinks for the rest of the day, because she's generous that way. She did say she'd be paying for drinks, so she better follow through.

Otherwise, you're free to do with the club what you will. Though if you pick a fight, that's on you, not her.]

[Steve will be searching for the birthday girl and checking out the place at the same time. Of course he'll say hello to just about everyone else along the way so feel free to play with that.]

[Max is over by the bar, sipping on a beer. When she spots Steve, she'll sit up a bit and give him a wave.]

Hey.

[Steve makes a bee line for her, smiling brightly.] Happy birthday! How is it going so far?

It's goin' pretty good. Can I get you something?

Just water. [He's looking around for a birthday cake... or birthday cupcakes. You better have these things or else he's going to have to call Peeta on you, Max.]

Shouldn't I be getting you things? It's your day.

[Hey, she's new to the birthday thing. Technically it's her first one.]

I already paid the tab for the night, so it's no big.

You paid for this too? [See this look? He's completely disapproving of this.]

That does it. I'm putting myself in charge of throwing your birthday party next year.

Hey, I'm new at this. I've never had a birthday before.

It's not your fault. I should have covered the basics with you.

So enlighten me now. What are the dos and don'ts for turning another year older?

For starters, you've got to do it with your pals. You need a cake, good food to go with it, and a couple of drinks. You've got the drinks part covered already.

Oh and presents from your friends even if it's just a slap on the back. It's the thought that counts.

[even if it's just Steve for right now]

I think I'm already halfway there.

Yeah that's true. I'll work on the cake and food part another day. The present comes later.

Well it's supposed to be surprise. [He made her a dresser. :)]

Does that mean I have to figure it out, or does it mean I just have to wait till later?

Yep. It's definitely like a box.

[tips her head to the side as she mentally measures that for a moment]

Nope. Why? Did you need one?

[ Chase is just going to drop by real quickly before clinic duty. He's got a gift for Max and wants to pass it to her personally instead of handing it over to Jo. ]

[grins as he heads closer]

Hey there. [ He'll give her a quick hug. ]

I'm not going to be able to stay long, but I wanted to give you your present. [ He hands her a pop up 3D birthday card and a gift wrapped box. He really didn't know what to get her so he bought her a pair of sunglasses and a book: The Bartender's Bible: 1001 Mixed Drinks. ]

[frowns a bit as she takes the present to open it]

Too busy to hang out?

My bad. I should have cleared my schedule. [ He'll stick around for a few minutes though. ]

So, how old are you supposed to be now? Sixteen going on eighteen? [ Ha! He's joking. ]
