[Picking out gifts is never easy for Jo. When she was younger, it was just her and her mom. Christmas was seen as a busy day for business, not for a celebration. Since arriving in Paradisa, she's grown accustomed to the holiday. The only drawback is the slight reminder that it's almost been another year in the castle. She's creeping up on three years and while she knows there's nothing for her back home -- it still means that she's also still here and things are stilling going on back home.

Rather than dwell on the things she can't change, she instead opts to focus on the things that she can help with. Maybe not change, but she can help at least. Gifts aren't always about the item bought, but with the thought that goes into them.

Moving through the streets in the city, she stops every so often glancing in the window of a shop, trying to decide if she should wander in or just keep moving. It's amazing to her how many shops are actually in the city. Catching a glint of a giant bell in a doorway, Jo turns her attention toward the other shop and heads toward it.]

Things had been vaguely overwhelming lately. Nothing specific really. The village remained quiet, the recent losses seemed to have slowed and there weren't any demons scaling the walls of the castle. But Fred still seemed to be mastering the art of feeling out of sorts.

Yes, there'd been a recent loss to contend with and Lilah's subsequent hospitalization, something that still felt vaguely unresolved. Peter's wedding loomed and Damon's arrival had kicked up more than a bit of dust. All together it just made Fred feel ... heavier. Like she was wearing an extra layer of clothing she didn't remember putting on in the morning.

So really, what was there for it?

"...tide slide."

She'd muttered the phrase under her breath, remembering the first time she had encountered one her freshman year of college. With finals looming, everyone seemed just a little not themselves. By one in the morning the entire length of hallway in her dorm was soaking wet and slick with laundry detergent, and filled with the shrieks and creams of the girls that slid down it. Fred woke the next day with a half dozen new bruises and more energy than she knew what to do with.

And here was one of the things she loved most about Harmony. Fred didn't even have to share that sort with her friend. It just took announcing that it was something she wanted to do, and her roommate was all in -- as enthusiastic about it as she was everything else she committed herself to.

While Harmony made the announcements, Fred went down to the ballroom to see about setting up.
