This Land. [Open]
Who: Hoban Washburne and YOU.
What: Wash's arrival in the castle.
When: Evening.
Where: Bedroom, hallway, corridors - you'll meet him somewhere on his journey.
Rating: PG.
"Aah!"
He sat up, and looked down. Because he was not in his pilot's chair - having performed a feat of piloting that one really would want to brag about - and this was definitely not Serenity. Frankly, it looked like some of the old holo-vids he'd seen over the years. He half expected a guy in tights to come swinging out of nowhere saying that they had to save the princess.
The next thing he noticed was that he was in a comfortable bed. This was also new. And he had a book. And a pen to write with, which was...nice. He'd not written by hand in...well, he couldn't even remember how long.
It took a bit to figure out the book, but he wrote in it, and would continue to do so as he ventured out from a room that, to his utter shock, bore his name.
But the fun part was just beginning, really - namely, exploring this place with a book clutched to his chest (which itched something fierce), and trying to figure out just what the heck had happened to him.

All in all, he was glad to see SOMEONE from his world- it wasn't River or Kaylee, mind, but Wash had always seemed to not mind his presence in the slightest, and at least he wasn't Jayne.
Finally spotting the familiar man, Simon raised his hand in greeting.
"Wash!"
no subject
"Hey! Simon!"
He jogged over, and actually clapped the man into a hug.
"Thank the stars for somebody familiar!"
no subject
"I feel the same way, believe me," he chuckled. "I have made some friends here, but it's not quite the same without the rest of the crew. Any longer and I could even begin to miss Jayne."
no subject
"Wow, you really have been here a while. Seriously, do you really want the eventual rescue party to come equipped with Jayne?"
He looked around.
"Though I think he'd like it here. There's dungeons for him to lurk in, probably."
no subject
He then began to turn toward the direction of the staircase.
"Let's walk for a while; I can show you around and try to answer any questions you may have."
no subject
He started to follow.
"Ok, I'm good. Just point me towards the food, the shower, and the washroom, I'm good. Well, double-good."
no subject
As they walked, Simon was silent for a moment as he gathered his thoughts.
"Well, first things first- you can wish for those sorts of things. Just do it, and they will appear."
To demonstrate, Simon held his hand out and wished for a pen- and just like that, one appeared.
"Obivously, it won't give you everything- like a way to escape here, for example- but you can, at least, feed and clothe yourself. There is a town outside the castle as well, and there are a lot of shops. We do have currency here- some people get jobs, while others simply wish for some whenever they need it. We have everything we need, more or less, as far as material wants go."
no subject
He cocked his head though.
"Wait, so, if people wish for cash, but they can pay for things with that imaginary cash, how does anything have any value here? Also, I'm out of a job twice over. No flight and no crime? This is a bit of a downside, resume wise."
no subject
He then frowned.
"That did not occur to me. We'll have to find something for you to do... I am sure someone in this castle can find you something."
no subject
He paused.
"Rather than a big giant castle of weird. I mean, geez, I could fly Serenity down some of these halls."
no subject
"Believe me, you have not experienced much of the strangeness that comes with it yet- the size of the thing is the least of your worries."
no subject
He grinned at the man, shaking his head. "You're doing way better at that whole 'reassuring' thing. No, really, Like a fish on a bicycle."
no subject
"... I do seem to have a special talent for that, don't I? Open mouth, insert foot. But, really, I'm not trying to scare you or anything like that- I just feel it would do us all well to be prepared."
no subject
"New or lost?"
no subject
"Uhh....new?"
But he was damned pleased she dismissed him like that. Hand-to-hand wasn't his sport at all.

She was being almost helpful, really it was in her own best interest. The less people here who got themselves into trouble the less work she'd have getting them out of it.
Purely self motivated.

He leaned back a bit. This woman had a look in her eye that, were it made physical, might bend steel.
"I kinda have a friend here."
no subject
He seemed smart enough to keep himself out of trouble, if confused as hell.
no subject
He looked around.
"Though apparently you can wish for sandwiches, so it can't be all bad."
