loved by the sun
Who: Abby and you!
What: The first day of her loss. Surprised vampire kid is surprised.
When: Sunrise, February 17th. After this.
Where: The garden.
Rating: PG.
Time is something she has learned to become very familiar with, especially when it comes to the daylight hours. She didn't sparkle in the sunlight and was not in possession of anything that may ward off the sun for any length of time. To make a long story short; if the sun touched her skin and she was unable to get away from it? She would die.
So, then, one could only imagine her surprise after she lost track of time and had little warning before she felt the warmth of the sun's rays on her face. Warmth, but no pain. Still, she can't help the way she jerks away, grits her teeth and crouches to hide in what little shadow is left, waiting for the inevitable -- but it never comes.
So, looking utterly dumbfounded, she hesitantly raises a hand and wiggles her fingers, marveling at the way the sunlight painlessly trickles through her fingers. Daring to test her luck further, she walks back toward the entrance of the castle and stands near the doors. It probably looks like a silly display to most, but she's still waiting for either a.) her luck to run out or b.) herself to wake up.
When neither happens? Well, she's at a loss and it shows, at least through her expression.

The castle and its grounds are eerily quiet at this hour, and as Rose pushes the door open and takes in the pink sky, the last thing she expects to see is a familiar girl standing quite oddly in front of her. For a moment, she only watches Abby's behavior. Then, she offers a word.
"Might I ask what you're doing?"
no subject
She's familiar, but why is she carrying the cats? Not that something like that is strange or particularly out of place.
".. Nothing. Something just surprised me."
no subject
"It would seem so. Is there something particularly out of place about your hand?"

The list of people he's willing to chat with is pretty short and the number of kids on it is even smaller. Still, this one didn't really talk much like a kid. That and the fact that she was also the only other person he'd run into during the long Paradisan nights made her stand out.
"Aren't you supposed to be in bed or something?"
He gives her a teasing smirk.

The humor isn't lost on her, as she smiles briefly and drops her hand to her side.
"Aren't you?"
no subject
"Nah, I don't sleep during the day."
He shrugs and nods in her direction.
"Something wrong?"
no subject
"Nothing is wrong, I just thought I saw something."
no subject
He raises an eyebrow skeptically.
York had told about losses that could turn him human again... and she sleeps during the day... nah, that's way to hammer-film to be a real thing.

Normally she would ignore someone acting strange at the front doors as she heads back inside. This is a girl, a familiar looking one at that even if she can't place the name, so Elektra quietly intervenes.
"Everything okay?"

Abby murmurs that before she can catch herself, still glued to sunrise looming in the distance. A part of her wonders if she should run back inside because she still isn't sure this isn't just some kind of fluke. Any minute now, her skin would burst into flames and this woman would have to witness her death.
No, that was wrong. She would most likely try to help her but, luckily for the both of them, she never has to find out. Radiating hesitation, she steps into the light fully and releases a breath she didn't realize she was holding. This was the castle's doing, she just doesn't know why it's doing this.
"I'm okay," she finally manages, with some confidence.

"Are you in need of any help?"
no subject
Okay, maybe she said that a little too quickly, but she's still trying to grasp the situation at hand. This is too much to take in having been given such a short amount of time in which to cope. By now, at least, she has deduced that this is no dream.
After taking a deep breath and letting it out as a sigh, she corrects herself: ".. I mean, I'm fine. Just surprised."

Cat pauses for a moment, watching the girl's strange actions.
"You look as though you expected to turn to stone."
no subject
She could see it, little things in her face and the way she carried herself that reminded her of her small friend. Awkwardly, she rubs at the back of her hand as she replies.
".. Something like that."
no subject
"We have spoken before, haven't we? Your voice seems familiar."
no subject
You know, I don't think I've ever seen you out in daylight before. Your hair looks pretty under the sunlight.
[Awkward compliment is GOOOOOOO as Evan attempts to act like all is right with the world.]
