[The castle had given her something pretty substantial around Christmas, but she hadn't really felt like putting it up until today. It took missing home and being trapped in another world, within a different world, for Jo to actually feel a bit homesick. That morning, waking up in her own bed, with one less pet, Jo plugs in the Jukebox from the Roadhouse. She knew it was the one from back home, the one from back home that had the one button that stuck, that wouldn't actually press. That number three just permanently depressed, the spring forever snapped and never letting any of those tracks play.

It still plays the REO, which was the only thing that she figured matters.

She fills the fridge with beer and pulls the top shelf liquor out of the cabinets and just sets it out on the table.

Then she waits. Seated on her couch, music from the jukebox playing, and a drink in her hand. Not bad for a day late birthday.]

[and Max is late. Not as late as Chase, and you think that for a genetically engineered super soldier she would be on time more often, but nope.

She's just awesome like that.]

[Jo appreciates the ONE LADY showing up. Even if she is late.]

So... do you think I need to make more female friends? [Because... seriously.]

Maybe. But they can be a little overrated sometimes.

[huntersdaughter]

Possibly. [Shrug.]

I guess it's leftover from back home.

[frowns a bit as she leans back against her chair]

I had a lot of guy friends back home. In fact, I wasn't friends with a whole lot of girls that weren't transgenics. There was OC, and my old roommate Kendra, but that was about it.

[huntersdaughter]

OC? As in Orange County?

[whatialways_do]

As in Original Cindy. She was my girl -- had my back through a lot.

[huntersdaughter]

Gotcha. I know ... there are a lot of projects in the future, but is cloning an issue?

[whatialways_do]

[shrugs]

Considering they made me? I don't think it wasn't a problem. I mean, we all had genetic twins.

[huntersdaughter]

So... she's the original one, how many other ones are there?

[whatialways_do]

Huh?

[a beat before it registered, and she shakes her head]

OH! No. OC's human.

[huntersdaughter]

Oh! So it's a nickname, not a genetic thing. Sorry, I just -- I can never be too sure.

[whatialways_do]

[laughs]

Especially with my universe.

[huntersdaughter]

Exactly why I asked.

OC is a hundred percent human. And has been my best friend for a long time.

[huntersdaughter]

Best friends are hard to come by, so it's good that you can call her that.

[nods]

Yeah, they are.

[huntersdaughter]

You know, I consider you one of mine.

[there's a bit of a smile at that, and she nods]

Same here.

[huntersdaughter]

Good, because that could've just been awkward.

Well, we avoided it. So how about a drink?

I would love a beer.
