Who: John Egbert and Jane Crocker
What: First meetings
When: Earlier today
Where: The Music Room
Rating: PG ish?
It wasn't that John didn't like playing the piano. It was a great way to spend time when one had so much of it to kill at Paradisa. Unfortunately it was one of those things he didn't think of doing most days, despite the fact that the castle came fully equipped with its very own music room, piano included. Every now and then John managed to remember it was there, ready and waiting for people to actually play it. He'd debated a few times just going ahead and wishing up his own piano in his room, but then the one in the music room would probably never get played.
So there he was, sitting in front of the piano, plunking at a few keys experimentally. On occasion playing out a small section of a tune he happened to know. There was no music book sitting in front of him, and if he wanted to play a full song he'd have to get up and actually go find one.

And yes, definitely a fluke. There was no chance that there was any connection between these two young kids. The idea was preposterous!! ... Really, it was!
"I guess so, but I am planning to become even better than they were. I have some pretty great prank ideas I have thought up here, and I just need to put them into action sometime soon."

"Really?" Jane asked. She might have leaned just a smidge closer. "Would you ever need another set of hands for any of them?"

That depressing thought could be mused on later though, because right now he had someone willing to help him enact his pranks upon the castle, and that was pretty damn awesome.
"I could maaaaybe use some help for some of the trickier ones."

John's response was exactly what she had hoped for. Jane grinned. "Maybe, huh?"
no subject
"Maybe! We are going to have to see what sort of things I have up my sleeve."

Jane grinned. "Hoo hoo! I'll look forward to it!"
no subject
"I will let you know as soon as I've got something worked out."

While leaving a slew of new friends wasn't the most pleasant of thoughts, Jane could not forget that her friends at home needed her very much, and could very well be in danger. If waiting around was the only way to get home, then she would make the best of that waiting.
"I'll look forward to it!"

John grinned and stretched his arms out in front of him, already excited at the idea of having a new prank buddy here at the castle. He didn't usually pull pranks with the assistance of other people, but he could probably think of some really good ones with reliable help.
"Glad to hear it!" He glanced at the door, frowning slightly. They'd been here for some time, and he was pretty sure he didn't have to worry about Jane going anywhere any time soon, what with her being so new and all.
"I should probably get going! I have wasted a lot of time just sitting around here, but I will make sure to let you know as soon as I have some good prank ideas."

A little part of her, though, cheered at the thought of getting in on some pranks with someone.

"Don't worry about it! It has been really fun to talk with you too, and I will definitely catch you later, Jane."
And with that he slid off the piano bench, and turned around to walk backwards towards the door. "And remember! Keep an eye on the journal for prank announcements."
He gave her one last wave before darting through the door.

And there he went. Jane stared after him with a little smile. John had definitely been a swell person to bump into today, and even if her search for her father turned up fruitless yet again, at least the day wasn't a complete loss. After a moment, Jane turned to the piano and flexed her fingers. While she was here, she might as well continue to tickle the ivories for a bit...
