It's half-past ten when Rocco eventually shows up, because if there's one thing Rocco can be depended on for, it's being fashionably late. Still, he's actually showed up and is poking his head through the door. "Hello?"

Fred was at the bar, restocking the liqueur supply when a voice cut through her focus on the task. Somehow she'd lost track of time. Stepping out from behind the bar, she greeted Rocco with a smile.

"Hey there. I see you found the place alright."

"Uh. Yeah." He steps further into the room. "Sorry I'm late, by the way. I kinda lost my watch down the back of the sofa." Or someone hid it there.

She wiped her hands on the back of her jeans and stepped closer with a smile.

"Don't worry about it, really. It's not like we have any customers right now."

"So, uh..." He's a bit outta his depth here, so he's just going to go ahead and ask. "Where do we start?"

"Well, you mentioned wanting to get your own business going? So is there anything specific you were wanting to learn, or is this just about the paycheck?"

Either answer was alright.

"I'd say a bit of both." He rubs the back of his head. "I sorta worked in a deli back home, so I know the basics of shi-- Stuff like that. Food'd be great."

Fred laughed.

"You're fine to curse around me. I grew up in Texas after all." She paused. "...just maybe not when we're open?"

"Yeah, yeah, sure. No problem."

Rocco seems a bit more relieved. But just a bit... "So, yeah. I worked in the Lakeview for a few months. I know basic shit."

"Well, since I don't exactly know what the Lakeview is? How basic is basic?"

"It's a deli in Boston." Or, was. He doesn't know what happened to it after he capped everyone in there.

"I know which sandwich fillings go well. Even some of the weirder combinations. You'd be surprised which ones go together, man."

And he scrubs the back of his neck. "That's about it, really. I didn't get much of a chance to learn much more."

"Most food goes pretty well together, if you're hungry enough." That was a quieter statement about her own past. "Of course, most people don't let themselves reach that point."

"Or have enough cash to not get to that point." And have one in return, Fred. There were a few occasions where his mob funds didn't quite cut it...

"I'll get to reading recipe books. They'll have them in the library, won't they?"

"There's just about every kind in the library. It get be a bit overwhelming, honestly. But you're right, it's as good a place as any to get started. I can teach you a few things as well, if you like. We can meet here."

"Sure! That'd be great." A pause. "I, uh... If it's not too much trouble, I mean."

That earned a look.

"Why do you think it'd be trouble?"

"Well, uh, I'm askin' ya to go outta ya way to help me, that's all."

She gave him a look, warm but sharp.

"I can't imagine how I'd manage in this place, if I only had myself to keep company with.
