deductiongeek: (that night)

(no subject)

 Who: Conan and YOU
What: Nightmare
When: Now
Where: Inside Conan's mind

Conan gasps desperately for air as he skids around a corner, nearly falling into a puddle as he does so.  He is barefoot and dressed in a hugely oversized pullover and jeans, the clothing obviously intended to be worn by someone twice his height.  Blood is smeared halfway across his face, probably coming from a deep cut on his head.

His surroundings seem to be what you might expect from any alley on such a dark and rainy night.  Dismal, dark and slick with rain.  But there is something wrong about the perspective.  Everything stretches high up into the sky, further than the eye can see in the darkness.

Carefully pulling up the trailing edges of his jeans, he presses himself up against the wall and listens for any sounds of pursuit.

Hope this is okay

"NO!!"

Dairine screams, throwing her spell into action. A few feet down, a shield of hardened air appears under Conan, an invisible surface. It should be strong enough to stop his fall, but with enough give to soften the impact, so it's not too painful to land on.

Lord, she hopes this works.

Oh good!

Dairine was just about to make a bridge across the gap to reach him when darkness falls. She freezes. Did the dream just end or...?

"Conan?" she whispers, glancing around. Every once and a while, she thinks she sees a millipede crawling in the darkness, minions from her own nightmare coming to haunt her. Maybe it's just her imagination...

"Conan-kun?"

It's alright. Dream sequences usually are disjointed anyway.

It doesn't take much, as Dairine was already half-way kneeling. Still is somewhat of a shock though.

She looks over at Conan, glad to see he's still alive, though confused as to why they're both in the same place again. Didn't he just fall? Oh well, at least she's not alone. Dairine scoots closer and whispers as quietly as she can, "What is it now?"
wizard_redfive: (Stare)

Ooh, nifty!

Ick! Why can't they have more pleasant dreamscapes?

Dairine shuts up, opting to watch Conan instead. He's bound to slip her a clue sooner or later. As her eyes adjust to the darkness, she is able to discern their surroundings. Following his lead, she sneaks a peek deeper into the cave, but ducks down when she spots the other men.

She stares back at Conan, eyes wide. What the heck is going on?

Dairine narrows her eyes. This was quickly turning into Nancy Drew novel fodder... or any mystery novel for that matter. As much as she wanted to apprehend the murderers, Dairine remained still. She was out of her element. Powers of evil she knew how to handle, regular criminals less so.

Then all of a sudden there's a gun aim towards them, and Conan is pushing her out of the way. (Why the everloving hell did he jump up at the sight of a gun?! Crazy kid!) Dairine fumbles back and hits the ground as bullets whizz by.

Once the men leave, Dairine finally breathes and moves to sit up. Only to freeze when she sees Conan.

No. Oh no. Not again!

"Conan?"
wizard_redfive: (Shock)

[personal profile] wizard_redfive 2012-11-05 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, she sees that stain. Dairine rushes over to Conan's side, internally panicking. This is her fault. This is all her fault!

"That is not what I'd call fine," she hisses. But he's right. They need to get out of here and find a hospital. Taking off her jacket, she moves to wrap it around his curled form. "Here. Can you stand?"

Or will she need to do first aid?

Dairine nods, taking her jacket and holding it firmly against the wound instead. Her mind is whirling. There is so much blood. Should she try a healing spell? But if the bullet is still inside, it might become impossible to remove if she closed the wound. Could she remove the bullet? Someone else did that last time, and she's not comfortable enough to attempt it with just book smarts.

Stopping the bleeding though, that she could do. Dairine starts quietly mapping out a spell, one that will repair the cardiovascular system without altering anything else.

Conan, seriously. Worry more about the injury, less about calculations.

Dairine focuses, mentally reciting the healing spell as she holds the jacket in place. Gradually, the bleeding slows and eventually stops. One might think the pressure did it, though the results were rather fast. The spell's only indication is the heavy breathing from Dairine, as though she's just exerted herself (despite having been sitting this whole time).

"I think we're good," she whispers. So long as he doesn't aggravate the injury too badly.

Dairine's breathing steadies as the backlash subsides. That spell hadn't been too bad. Didn't even get dizzy. She gives Conan a slightly cross look.

"Yeah, yeah. Then get moving, Sherlock-kun." Dair pushes Conan's shoulder lightly to urge him along.

Dairine stands up next to him, the backlash now fully worn off. Thank goodness -- she suspects she'll need steady footing for this next trek.

She catches that surprise and has to hide her amusement. Try to explain away that.

"After you."

And Dairine will be walking next to him, matching his pace. Wouldn't do to leave the dreamer behind.
