Who: Daryl Dixon (
squirrelhunter) an Open
What: Nightmare plot
When: Now
Where: The murky forests of Daryl's mind
Rating: Certificate 15. Warning for blood, gore, zombies and other nasty stuff.
You find yourself running through a forest at night. The air is cold, almost frigid, your breath crystalising in front of you as you run. There's the sound of shuffling behind you, as well as snarls, growls, moans... And they sound hungry.
There's a clearing up ahead, a man standing in the clearing, a crossbow out as he fires a bolt into the head of a shadowy figure shambling out of the woods on the opposite side, a pair of bloodied axes lie at his feet...
The path splits into several ways. Which path do you choose?
((OOC: There will be a nasty surprise per path, so the more people who choose, the more poor Daryl gets tortured. Go nuts!))

[Relief flooded her when she saw the figure up ahead -- and better yet - that he had weapons.]
[She skidded to a halt near him and picked up the axe with an achingly familiar anger. She wasn't that great with these - but her time in District 13 had taught her the value of hand to hand.]
How many? [Crisp, soldierly question, as she swung the axe up to her side, and looked down each of the paths.]
no subject
[The response will be all too familiar, no doubt, but there's no time. There's Walkers surrounding the area, so the man picks up the remaining axe.]
Best keep up. I ain't stickin' 'round t'become Walker-bait 'cause your ass is slow.
[And, with that, he'll take off down one of the paths.]
no subject
[And that's a typical Katniss snappy response, right back at him.]
Please. My ass is faster than yours, drunkard.
[With that, she followed after him, hefting the axe as he headed down one of the paths.]

[There's movement in the woods. Seems the zombies are, more or less, everywhere, shambling towards the path.
One bursts from the trees, heading straight for Daryl...
...Until the top of it's head rolls from the rest. There's no time to rest, however, as a group of them shamble out, heading straight for them, one close to Katniss reaching to grab her.]

What the hell are these things!? They look like dead people!
no subject
[That's all the explanation you're going to get as he's starting to run again.]
no subject
[So that was what Daryl was talking about. Nasty.
She ran after him, axe up to start hacking through what was left of people - even if it made her sick to her stomach.]
no subject
[That's called back as he lodges his axe into the brain of another Walker.
There's the sound of gunshots in the distance, and that sound only spurrs Daryl on faster.]
no subject
[She grumbles behind him, as she shifts her aim and sents her axe directly into the head of the next Walker that stumbles towards her. She too, hears the gunshots and increases her pace.]
no subject
Which is why Daryl is just going to go ahead and start cutting a path towards the two.]
no subject
[... but there's so many of them ....]
no subject
This doesn't stop Daryl from trying to get to them, however.]
Fuck, where're they comin' from?!
no subject
I don't know! [She screams as one of them grabs her arm in mid-swing, and she jerks her arm, trying not to trip and finding herself taking the thing's arm with her as she does.] ... the hell!?
no subject
Through the throng of Walkers, you can barely make out the image of the pair being assaulted by the zombies, the old man having one attached to his arm... Before one sneaks up behind the woman and bites into her neck.]
No!! Damn it!! [Daryl yells, starting to fight all the more to get to them.]

[He's going to keep trying to fight his way to Dale and Andrea, but the Walkers are cutting him off at every turn, their screams echoing around the clearing...
...Before it stops.]
no subject
Shit.
[She stares at the spot where the two people aren't anymore.] ... Daryl, we've got to get out of here. Now.
no subject
[He turns to leave, knowing he can't get to them, but looking torn.]
That way! Go! [He points.]

no subject
Fuckin' geeks! Bring it on!
no subject
[Katniss growled, kicking and swinging her axe, but she was getting pushed ahead of the crowd and they were all grabbing at her.] NO! LET GO!
[She was kicking now, fighting them, but they were dragging her down.]
no subject
[Not another one. He's going to start fighting to get to her now. He's not losing another one. Not this soon!]
no subject
[She was not going to have him go down with her. She screamed at them, her axe swinging like she was a Valkyrie.] IF I'M DYING YOU'RE ALL GOING WITH ME!
no subject
He's still fighting his way through the throng to get to her, despite a way out showing behind him.]
no subject
no subject
[But there's nothing he can really do. He's doomed to watch and he does for a moment, before realising that he... Can't do anything...
So, he turns and runs, the Walkers distracted enough by Katniss' corpse to let him escape...]
no subject
She's able to keep a pretty good pace in front of them, but when she happens upon the clearing, and a man with a crossbow, she stops short. She's not sure who this guy is or if he's going to try and kill her, so she'll grip her knife tightly and look for a path which will allow her to escape.]

GET DOWN!!!
/Sneaks in late
Then she spots a familiar figure in the distance. One with a crossbow and that can only be one person. There are weapons at his feet. No, she hasn't used one before but she runs up and grabs one anyone. It's better than not having anything to defend herself with.]
Come on, Daryl. We need to move. Now.
Re: /Sneaks in late
[His crossbow gets slung over his shoulder and he grabs the other axe before turning to run down his chosen path.
The walkers seem less dense around here, but you can still hear them shambling through the trees.]
no subject
Yes, she can hear them and it's terrifying her. She manages to keep up with him pretty well, keeping her eyes open for any sign of walkers....that is until she trips over and falls down.]
Shit!
no subject
Pick ya damn feet up!
[But it still doesn't stop him from going back to help her up.]
no subject
Where did they all come from?
no subject
no subject
She keeps her eyes peeled for any buildings near by or anywhere at all that they can take shelter from them.]
