[He's an odd one, Sherlock Holmes, if you're somehow fortunate enough not to have noticed already. Usually he keeps the bulk of it restricted to his flat, but today he's taking the library.

Something about the chairs must be interrupting his thought-process, because he's taken a seat on top of one of the tables, smack-dab in the center. Scattered around him are more than a few books on various topics, from apiology to the botany of different worlds. He has one open in his lap.

He's not reading it right now, though. Right now he's apparently decided that this is the best time to light up a cigarette, surrounded by all this paper.

All in all, it's a bit of a spectacle.]

[He takes a long drag. TRY HIM. He already ruined his gucci button-down, what else is he going to do.]

[this thing is heavy. Lemony sets it down and bites his thumb in thought, apparently conflicted...

...until it becomes apparent that he was wetting his finger so he could reach out and extinguish the cigarette with a pinch]

[Ostensibly, Sherlock's expression doesn't change, but there sure is Not Pleased coming off him in waves.

He plucks the cigarette out of his mouth and just drops it onto the table.]

Could wish for a hundred more if I wanted.

And I've been told some of us aren't going home any time soon. ... Surely there are things we could both be doing that are more beneficial to the community than respective displays of stubbornness, Mr.....?

[He's picking at his shirt now -- apparently that's a good enough distraction. Damn, he liked this shirt, too. B(

If you're interested in benefiting the community, I hear there's an animal shelter in town. Walk a dog or two, and leave me be.

[he's not going to make the connection without a first name, so that's a good move. he nods... and makes a note to find the fellow a replacement shirt later. tomorrow, the ghosts will deliver one to his room in a neat brown paper parcel]

You came in here with every intention of being initially irresponsible in regards to proper library conduct, but yet still intended on actually being responsible, should consequences to your actions arise.

[curiouser and curiouser... He raises an eyebrow.]

[He gives Lemony a look like he's the weirdo in this situation.]

I wanted a cigarette, and I wanted to read. Lighting the book on fire causes a bit of a road block there, doesn't it?

You could have simply checked the book out and read it in a more smoker-friendly environment. [he frowns a little, confused as to why Sherlock wouldn't have thought of that in the first place]

But I think a road block would be an understatement.

[That's a good enough reason to do anything, in his book. He wanted the books now and he wanted the cigarette now and woe to anyone who asked him to waste time walking around.]
