Who: Rose
fluthlu and John
dupable
What: Movie-friend-date!
When: Saturday night
Where: John's room
Rating: PG-13 (drankin')
Really, a movie-friend-date was long overdue. Between the perils and grievances of living in a cursed castle, Rose and John hadn't really seen much of each other since the outing during which he was attacked by a bird. So a night of movies (some of which will most likely be of dubious quality) seems like the perfect way to relax.
And so Rose arrives at the door of his room around 8:00 PM, clad in comfy silk pajamas, with a totally inconspicuous knitting bag over her shoulder. She gives three sharp knocks.

A movie night sounded a lot better than that though, and he'd prepared for the event. He had his stack of Paradisa brand movies set up by his tv, a metric ton of junk food (including some treats for Rock to placate him, and some veggies for Liv so she wasn't left out), and he's even managed to get his hands on some beanbag chairs for the event. Somehow a movie night with beanbag chairs seemed like the ultimate in movie nights.
He's darting around his room, making sure everything is in order when he hears the knock on the door, and charges down his own door, tossing it open with more force than is strictly necessary. "Hi, Rose!"

Well, at least she isn't planning on any laments this time.
"What movies have you picked out for us on this fine evening?" She sets the knitting sack down on the floor, eliciting a few glass clinks from inside, and sinks down delicately onto one bean bag chair.

He wanders over to his pile of movies, shifting through them so she can have a look. He's organized things by genre, figuring that gives her some level of control while John still gets to pick from a pool of movies he enjoys. He looks over them before tossing a few her way, though without bothering with the Tiny Demons movie, figuring Rose would be happier if he just left that one out completely.
"A few different ones, but I figured we aren't actually going to watch all of them, unless you really wanted to."

After a few moments' contemplation, she picks up Spiritblasters, the Paradisa equivalent of an old standby. For some reason, this movie reminds of her of a dear, departed friend. She passes the DVD case to John.
"This is certainly an impressive array of snacks." She reaches over to examine a package of cookies, and then reaches for her own bag - which clearly does not contain knitting materials of any sort. Instead, it contains a couple of suspicious glass flasks and a bottle of Sprite.
no subject
He reaches excitedly for the case that Rose picked up and grins at the choice she made. Ghosts and the brave and intelligent (if not sometimes dysfunctional) guys who fight them are always a good way to spend the evening. He's even about to ramble onto her about the movie for a bit, until Rose's suddenly display of beverages manages to distract him.
"Thanks. I tried to make sure I got a lot for tonight. ... What's that?"
no subject
"Vodka." She arranges it next to the cookies - a bit of a mismatched display. "You don't have to drink it, of course. I merely brought it as a suggestion."
no subject
He looks kind of uncertain about the entire thing, but reaches down to pick up one of the flasks and swish it around. "I don't know. What does it taste like?"
no subject
Looking at his uncertain expression, Rose tips towards and smirks at him. "I'm afraid that life on a meteor is terribly dull, even amongst aliens. I had to come up with a new hobby to pass by the time."
no subject
He puts the flask down for the time being, and moves towards the tv to try and set up the movie for now. He doesn't know what to do with Rose's brand of drink. He does stop what he's doing to glance back at her though. "You became an alien bartender on the meteor?"
no subject
There's something apologetic behind her expression, though, as if what he said did strike someplace a little deeper. She would like to think that she's changed for the better since beginning her time on the meteor, but suddenly she feels a bit uncomfortable, wondering what John thinks, and if she should have kept her mouth shut about the whole drinking thing.
no subject
"Oh man... I remember seeing a bunch of them on drugs once. I don't even wanna imagine what Karkat would be like if he was drunk!"
no subject
She fiddles with one of the flasks and watches as John gets the movie set up.
no subject
He figures he won't mention that one time with him and Dave that involved drugs when Dave was infected by an alien brain slug. That wasn't really a good memory for anyone involved, and you couldn't even really make a funny joke out of it like you could all the trolls getting high off weird troll drugs.
Speaking of... "I am pretty sure it was some kind of weird alien drug too. Do you think trolls would even be affected by alcohol in the first place?"
no subject
She does have to think for a moment about his question, though. "I'm not positive. I suppose it has to do with the workings of their nervous systems, which I haven't had the opportunity to study too thoroughly." Or at all, really. She got bored of looking at her new housemates (labmates? meteormates?) as specimins after just a few months.
no subject
"Yeah. That is probably for the best."
He finishes fiddling with the dvd player and goes to flop back onto his bed next to Rose, grabbing the remote on his way so he can go ahead and flip through the title menu from here without having to get up again in a few seconds once trailers stop playing. "Do you think if we gave them any of your watermelon vodka stuff they'd try it and we could find out?"
no subject
Especially John. Rose knows for a fact that she would be doubtful about drinking anything pink given to her in a flask by John Egbert.
no subject
He scoots into a more comfortable position and shrugs his shoulders at the idea. "We could always be upfront with them. I bet one of the trolls would try it anyway if we told them what it's supposed to do. I mean, they took the troll drugs and had to know how that was going to make them act weird."
no subject
She puts a dramatic inflection on the words "dramatic" and "adventurous", and smiles over at him, then gives the flask a little inquisitive swish in his direction.
"Speaking of adventure...?"
no subject
And speaking of offering!!
John gives the flask an uncertain look before reaching over to take it out of Rose's hands. "If it tastes gross I'm blaming your bad barman skills!"
He holds it up to his nose to sniff, hesitates for a moment, and finally tosses some back before pulling it away from his face quickly and coughing a little. "Oh man..."
no subject
"I brought some Sprite as a mixer. Try that, it's a bit milder." She twists herself around to reach the knitting bag, out of which she pulls a small bottle of Sprite and a couple of glasses.
no subject
When Rose pulls out the bottle of Sprite he holds on his hand waiting for her to pour him a cup. He doesn't even want it as a mixer, just to drink is straight.
no subject
"What unmatched courage!" She puts on her usual air of drama. "John Egbert, ladies and gentlemen, going straight for the pure gulp!"
no subject
"That was awful!! Why are you drinking that stuff?"
no subject
"That's a loaded question."
But he's not getting her sympathy. That was entirely too amusing, and now that he's done sputtering she takes the flask and the Sprite bottle, and does things the right way.
"Try this, it's a lot better."
no subject
Instead he stops acting like he just downed a bottle of poison and holds out a hand for her new brew here. He does look extremely skeptical, however, and no one should blame him considering how the first drink went.
"If it isn't then I am definitely getting you back for this somehow!"
