I wanted to be with you alone
Who: Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth
What: Happy birthday, Edgey!
When: Evening, November 27
Where: Edgeworth's room
Rating: PG...?
[Edgeworth might not have had much to say about it in recent days, but Phoenix isn't about to forget the prosecutor's birthday.Or mistake it for a few days earlier. He's been busy baking for hours, desperately trying to achieve something considerably more difficult than he'd expected--a three-tiered chocolate cake adorned with magenta icing roses.
It's no "lobster" feast, but it is a damn fine cake (if he does say so himself), and, after waiting to be sure the room is currently occupied--no sense wasting his grand entrance on a Growlithe!--it's with pride and gusto that he barges into Edgeworth's room, followed closely by a ghost far more graceful than himself, carrying the cake. Phoenix's own music player (loaded with 80s music and given to him by the castle way back at Valentine's Day) is cranked up loud and his headphones are hanging around his neck, so there is no hope for silence.
This is why you don't give Phoenix permission to enter your room at any time.]
Happy birthday Miles!!!!

Happy birthday Miles!!!!

...Though his environment may give an impression to the contrary. Upon entering, one would not be able to help but notice the brightly-coloured confetti scattered everywhere, gaudy party favours strewn about willy-nilly, and the massive piñata in the shape of the Steel Samurai affixed to the ceiling fan.
Edgeworth, however, is nowhere in immediate sight.]

MILES. Miles! Miles! Miles! Miles! Miles!
[This will continue. Indefinitely.]

...What?! What?
[Edgeworth, looking quite frazzled (and wet), rushes out of the bathroom, haphazardly clutching a towel to his hoo-hoo.]

[Just paying no mind to the naked man in front of him, he steps back to give jazz hands to his cake masterpiece.]
I brought you a cake.
[Aw look he's happy.]

I can only hope it is worth the headache. Thank you.

I hope so too! I worked my butt off on it all day. I'm never making icing roses again.

[He gives an indignant sniff.]
You think I'm going to give you a boring old wished-for cake for your birthday?

And after you have some cake, I'll give you your present.
[He glances around then, noticing for the first time the confetti everywhere.]
Looks like I missed the party, though!

[After making certain the ghost sets the cake safely on the desk (best place for cakes, really), he follows Edgeworth into the bathroom. Personal space be damned.]
