( open ) First Night of Hanukkah

[The shop floor has been cleared, tables set. A hanukiah stands in the middle of the table. At sundown, a blessing is read. Afterwards, Violet starts taking off the lids to the dishes. There are a ton of latkes as well as other fried breads and Jewish pastries. Of course there is roasts and fish, and Violet tried her hand at several different dishes.]

ooc: so I am not Jewish and just spent a long time reading about Hanukkah. If I screwed something up, I am so sorry.

Also feel free to assume there are nutcrackers around. Treat this like a party post.

[She shakes his hand eagerly.]

Oh! It's a pleasure to meet you in person.

[The corner of his mouth twitches in a smile.]

You too. How'd the cooking go?

I didn't burn anything. [She jokes mildly, gesturing to the table filled with food.]

I think I'd count that as a success.

Hopefully I'm not the only one who finds it tasty though.

I'm sure everything's great. [He's going to grab a plate and start taking some food, because food is great.]

[She grins as she snags another piece of bread.]

I hope so.

So-- are you Jewish? [Because she's not really sure what he is. Not that it matters. There's a few people here that aren't. She's just inquisitive by nature.]

[He shakes his head.] Catholic. But I was brought up to be very open-minded.

I can understand that. We were Jewish, but not all that strict about it.

That's a good way of putting it. [Hellboy's adopted father dabbled in basically every religion and piece of occult that came his way, but they were technically Catholic. So, that's always been how he's identified.]

I think most people here are pretty irreligious in general.

You'd be surprised.

How's that? You have any run-ins with fundamentalists?

Here, really? You must run in a different circle than me.

No, not so much here. But I keep to myself a lot. [For as long as she's been in the castle, she is still meeting people that have been in for a long time. It's the years of being hunted down.]

I try to be pretty sociable. I think most people here are easy-going about that kind of stuff.

Most people are. I'm genuinely busy with the shop now.

Shop, huh? In town?

The shop we're in? [She gestures around them. It looks a little different with all the metal scraps and projects in the back, and with the tables out. But it's her shop nonetheless.]
