Ordinarily he'd be doing this outdoors, but the weather just isn't for it, so Micheletto has taken up in the lobby, leaning against a pillar and casually thumbing through a book. He doesn't seem particularly enthused in the material, which begs the question as to why he's reading it -- but that could just be the constant expression of disinterest he wears rather than a reflection of how he feels about the content.

The book looks to be old, but in very good shape, and the words on the binding are in Italian. Occasionally he'll glance up and look around, as if he's waiting for someone, but then he goes right back to reading.

He shrugs, pushing off the pillar to casually stroll further into the lobby. He may be testing to see just how obvious Ezio will make his posturing, if he'll continue to circle like a hunting animal, or if he has enough self-awareness to back off.

Because Micheletto will not deny it: a man who is that skilled with a sword could be useful to him. But not so much if he's too eager to get into a fight.

"No, but it is easy to find them. All cities are the same. Shadows are still shadows no matter what casts them."

Ezio slows a bit, as if only out of convenience, but he knows he is treading on serious ground. The Borgia have employed men with weak sword-hands before, but he is not going to take such a risk.

"Ah, it is easy if you know about the nature of criminals," he replies. "The innocent do not even think to look for shadows."

Micheletto notes it, but doesn't really alter his own pace. Best to remain casual, he thinks, though his muscles are still coiled and he's completely ready to react to anything.

He smiles. "And that is why the innocent make such easy victims, yes?"

"Of course," he replies, returning with his own smile. "When they are in the wrong place at the wrong time."

He scratches at his beard in thought, making another show of sizing Ezio up.

"Then perhaps I shouldn't take you to the shadows of this city after all. It is certainly the wrong place for you at all times."

[assassino]

Ezio laughs.

"Ah, yes. I am a banker, after all, and we are easy pickings. Too prone to tripping over our black velvet robes."

Oh. Well, that sure is something he wouldn't have predicted. Micheletto pauses, eyebrows raised.

"A banker? Why would a banker know to fight as you do?"

Ezio shrugs, brushes it off. He feels somewhat restless with the whole lie, and with that comes a dangerously cavalier attitude.

"It's a joke. I come from a banking family and brawl in the streets for fun."

Bankers... should he be expressing more deference toward this man, then? Not knowing the social status of anyone in this place, even another Italian, is somewhat disorienting. At least the various royals in this place were easy to single out. It didn't help that everyone spoke to one another as equals, either.

But Micheletto realises he doesn't really care all that much. Particularly if he spends his free time brawling.

"Is that so? I suppose there is not much call for that here. Everyone lives peaceably."

[assassino]

"Right," he replies, "it is terribly boring."

Maybe this is why he keeps trying to pick a fight, Micheletto wonders idly.

"Perhaps to one accustomed to brawling in the streets."

[assassino]

"Perhaps. Do you not find it boring already?"

"I do not brawl in the streets," he says, which doesn't really answer the question, but. Whatever.

[assassino]

"Where do you brawl, then?"

[ex_garroter234]

"I did not say I did," he replies smoothly. There is a small implication there that he does something that is not brawling; by the way he keeps sizing Ezio up and the fact that he pulled a hidden dagger on him the first time they met should be a pretty big indicator of what, in fact, he actually does.

Of course, he's not one to say it out loud.

"Still. There must be other ways to occupy yourself in this place."
