Who: North [personal profile] ol_northy and South [personal profile] i_got_this Dakotas
What: DRAMADRAMADRAMA
When: The wee hours of the night/morning after North's arrival
Where: Norths' room
Rating: R because South's a pottymouth and drunk. And South. Also H for heartbreaking and Y for YWOULDYOUEVEN

South had told Carolina time and time again that she didn't know what to do if North had ever shown up, and his sudden appearance proved her right. Their initial conversation had been cut short, South weighted down with unhappy knowledge and personal demons that proved to be too great for her to confront at that moment. She'd cut out as soon as she could and sought out Crowley, who had helped to get her shit-faced drunk to try and come to terms with her twin's presence and what to do about the 'things' she knew.

She must have passed out there, and he must have demon'd her back, because she had awoken in her own room, a bottle of something still clutched in her hand and a sudden realization that she felt - in this drunken madness - she should do. She had to tell him. It would continue to eat at her, cloud her every waking moment.

Staggering her way through the castle, she eventually finds his room (which, fortunately or unfortuantely, depending on how one looked at it, was only a floor down and a few rooms over from hers), and leans on the door for support while she bangs on it, loud and desperate.

"North! North wake up! You here or are- are you somewhere else?"

There are a lot of things in life that ought to remain unspoken, especially in their lives. The project... maybe he shouldn't have said so much. Maybe he's made a grave mistake. But she's Agent South Dakota, she can take it, and he's going to be sure of that. Breaking his heart is what she does best, though, and even now he's not sure he can take it. Every once in a while, South really loses it, and those times--when it's justified, when he knows it's real pain and not something of her own creation, her jealousy, her rage--are the hardest moments of his life. There's an empathy between them, some kind of connection that started in the womb and can never be severed.

One hand rests at the back of her head, and he holds her close as she lets loose all the anger, sorrow, frustration that she's probably been holding in for months.

"I'm sorry."

It's funny that he's the one with all the calm strength, the one who's always solid and steady. Five minutes older, and worlds apart from her. With soft words, he reassures her, it's okay, it'll be okay, he's here, and she's stronger than she knows.

He wishes he could say he missed her, something to make things even, giving her a reason to feel truly reassured. There's a little flash of that hazy memory of his last moments, fleeting worry about Theta, and whether or not she'd be okay without him. Ten months. Ten months she's made it, and he's proud of her.

North lets go of her, putting his hands back down to his sides and giving her a half-smile when she finally speaks up. There we go. She'll be okay.

"You sure your stomach can take it?"

But without really waiting for an answer, he turns back toward the kitchen, giving her a parting pat on the arm. They've got this. They'll be synchronized soon enough. There's eggs to be cooked, bread to be toasted, and he sets right to it.

"I made extra bacon."
ol_northy: (N :: well okay)

The eggs are over medium, the bacon's about as crispy as it gets, just before the point of burnt. Quietly, he assembles the whole thing. There's not a lot to say, and he'd rather focus on the food for now, something easy and thoughtless. As he's cooking, he smiles a little, nodding his head at idle thoughts.

He makes quick work of the meal, serving the sandwich up for South on a pristine black plate. Extra bacon? Absolutely.

"And there you go. I can't guarantee it's any good. Been a little while."

Leaning up against the counter, he looks his own sandwich over. Here goes nothing.

"Yeah, yeah, but cardboard's better than that." There's a soft smile as he eats his own, taking his time and savoring every bite. Man, it's good to have real food again.

He decides then and there that he'll keep the wishing to a minimum. He's a pretty self-made guy, and he likes to do things the right way, and not necessarily the easy way. So cooking is fine, and cleaning and washing things. He'll make it happen, and he'll be glad to do it. Something normal for once might not be so bad.

Of course, that isn't to say he's going to stop training his ass off, or learning to work even more closely with Theta, but a break or two sounds awfully nice.

"It's stiff competition." Get it? A little joke to lighten everything up. Of course, if he knew she was wishing everything into place and whatnot, he'd be less shocked than anyone else. He knows it's less laziness and more that her priorities are slightly skewed.

"I took a little walk. Maybe I'll go again today. This doesn't seem like the most exciting place to be right now."

"Oh, I've been told. I'm not sure I want to be here when it happens, but I don't have much of a choice." He stops himself, Maybe that came out wrong. "It seems a little picky about who's where, when."

And yeah, he just hands his plate of extra bacon over. It's nice to see her happy, even if she is going to eat everything in the place.

"That's nice to hear, though I'm not going to be surprised if it's just because you want breakfast." A jibe, and he smiles. She's his priority, has been since they were kids and probably always will be. But that's how it goes when you're the older brother and your sister barrels through life like a bat out of hell.

"When you're feeling better, why don't you show me around? I get a feeling there's some stories I need to hear."

"Alright. Do what you have to do."

Disappointed? Yes. But he doesn't sound like it. Instead he busies himself cleaning up the kitchen.

"If you need anything, you know where I am."
