Who: Matilda Wormwood, aka the tiny newcomer and You.
What: It's an adventure and no one can really go by an adventure alone! aka introductions and walking about the castle!
When: From the morning of February 1st and until the afternoon!
Where: all around the castle!
Rating: totally pg.
[ Matilda Wormwood had a doll that didn't belong to her.
She saved it, mind you. Rescued it to bring it back to Miss Honey but then something happened and before she knew it, a castle.
A castle! The kind that Matilda was certain she read of before but couldn't remember where. Just this made a frown make its way to her face, settling there; she never forgot a book before and she was certain she had read of a castle once.
In the time that would have taken a normal grown person to panic, Matilda clutched the doll that wasn't hers and thought of an adventure. That against all odds, she had somehow walked into one of the wonderful worlds she has read about in her books. A world where everything is beautiful and the sky is always blue and where children can play and run and read and not fear being thrown into the Chokey for hours.
She took one step forward and then another before leaning against one of the pillars, watching the world around her with a small, awe-struck smile. A child who somehow found herself in a brand new story.
After a few minutes she realized that adventure or not, Miss Honey would likely worry for her and that Lissy-Doll should be brought back to her. She also realized she as much as the castle was vast and beautiful, she was alone. Looking at the people who wandered about, she couldn't recognize a single one.
Riding up and tidying her skirt she began to walk around, peeking up at people, uncertainty written on her face. She didn't even know what questions should she ask first. Gathering up her courage she decided to begin with a very polite: ]
Excuse me - which way would take me back to where I came from, please?

Magic?
[ she had thought magic exists only in books but - ]
Is that how I got here? Magic?
no subject
That's what everyone's assuming. The castle supposedly can think for itself, otherwise no one's tried to claim responsibility for bringing us here.
[He offers a smile.]
It takes a little getting used to at first, but soon enough you won't even think of it as being that weird. Especially once you realize how weird everyone else is here.
[He grows his ears so they're about the same size as his head. and wiggles the tops of them so they're waving at Matilda.]
no subject
Is that magic too? Did you learn how to do it here?
no subject
Nope, that was all me. I'm what's called a "mutant" where I come from. A human born with a special power that manifests when we get older. Paradisa's got a habit of collecting "special" people like me, or people who come from places that have something special about them.
[Shrinking his ears back to normal size, Evan instead gives himself a long, beaky nose, and causes his front teeeth to grow long and pointed, like a beaver's teeth.]
I can control just about everything about my body. Make myself look however I want. Only thing I can't do is change my skin's color.
[He pinches his own cheek, stretching the skin out an inch or so, so Matilda can see the gray of his skin, as though it wasn't as obvious as his extra-large nose.]

[ she bites down on her lip, maybe that's why the castle brought her. It occurred to Matilda not long ago that most kids can't exactly do what she can do. She looks down at the doll again. ]
Is that why the castle chose me? Because of my power?
no subject
It could be. No one knows for sure, but that's a very real possibility. What...can you do?
[He asks with a genuine curiosity. He knew all sorts of super-powered people, but never any as young as Matilda. Even Broo, who looked like a child, was the Brood's equivalent of a teenager.]
no subject
[ but he asks and she moves to place Lissy Doll on the floor, biting her lip and lifting a finger to make the doll lift from the floor too; she opens her arms and the doll flies into them. ]
I only learned how to do that a while ago.

You've got telekinesis! That's really cool!
[Though he's sure she mentioned something about school, which makes him think she should have gone to the Jean Grey School, like he did.]
It's a shame you're not from my world. I go to a school specifically for mutants!
[He holds out the right lapel of his blazer, which bears a patch identifying his former place of residence.]
I bet Headmaster Logan would accept you in a heartbeat!
[He beams. He doesn't know if Matilda is actually a mutant or not, but the JGS had become more lenient with regards to who it accepted for enrollment, as was evident by Broo and Kid Gladiator. Part of him almost wishes he could take Matilda home with him.]
no subject
[ she looks at the protocol, mutters a small 'wow'. ]
Do you learn math there? And English? Can they really teach you how to use your power there?
[ as he mentions a headmaster, she lifts her head. ]
What's the headmaster like?
no subject
Yup! I've got Advanced Biology with Doctor McCoy, Algebra with Professor Drake, Ethics with Headmistress Pryde, and Coping with Physical Changes with Professor Starsmore. That's just a few of my classes, but it says in the brochure that the Jean Grey School teaches us everything we'll need to know to be regular members of society, while teaching us how to control our powers.
[He pauses when she asks about the Headmaster. Logan was a very complicated man, as Evan himself had come to discover, having watched him kill his own son, Daken, to prevent the latter from coming after the school.]
Headmaster Logan is a good guy. He can be harsh, but he takes in all sorts of people who probably wouldn't have anywhere else to go, like me. He even let Krakoa stay.
[He pauses, figuring he should explain what Krakoa was.]
Krakoa's...he's sort of a sentient landmass that lives in the grounds. Like a dirt golem, but he's a mutant like me.

[ she only wish she hadn't left it at home. ]
He sounds fair. My school has the worst principal, Miss Trunchbull. All the kids are scared of her.
no subject
Wow! You must be really smart! I still have trouble with equations, myself. Biology is what I'm really good at. I've been reading Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species lately. I bet if we went to the library here in the castle, we could probably find the book you were working on!
[He shrugs.]
Well, I'd be lying if I said there weren't some of the kids who were scared of Headmaster Logan, but that's got a lot to do with him being a little intimidating...and the claws that come out from between his knuckles probably don't help either. He's never been anything but fair with me though.
no subject
[ but wait, claws? ]
Does he...use them? On the kids?
no subject
[If she's anything like Evan, with his neverending thirst for knowledge, she'll be in hog heaven.]
No. He makes it seem like he would, but Headmaster Logan only hurts bad guys, or people who'd try to do something bad to the school. He's...actually one of the bravest guys I know, besides my friend Wade.
no subject
[ she smiles when he speaks about his headmaster. ]
That's what I think about my teacher, Miss Honey. She's the most wonderful person. But Miss Trunchbull, she does worse things. She once flung a girl across the fence by her pigtails.
no subject
[When she talks about her teachers, Evan is reminded of Headmaster Pryde, and Professor LeBeau, with their respective teaching methods.]
By her pigtails?! That's not very nice at all!
[His eyes glow red for a moment in anger.]
Even the meanest of my teachers would never do something like that to a student!
no subject
[ she bites her lip, thinks about it. ]
I don't think she should be in charge of a school.
