Tar, tar everywhere. It was black, sticky, and warm to the touch--which Steph discovered, as it clung to her arms and neck. It didn't take too long for her to realize that many in the castle were being afflicted by this, so she tried to tough through it. It would stop eventually, and she had things to do. There was still a lot to be done in the city, before she and Cass left on the expedition.

However, the more she touched, the more tar seemed to come from her hands.

She wasn't going to be useful to anyone today, let alone herself, she came to realize.

What was the logical response?

To lay down on the grass in front of the castle, of course. Maybe if she didn't touch anything for a while, the sticky goo would recede. In the meanwhile, staring at the sky seems like a good option.

Yeah, castle. She gets the irony. She messes up everything she touches. Ha ha.

"I don't need to find a way. I just need to get close enough to get a killing shot."

"That's what I meant," she says, leaning her head on his shoulder.

He sighs and reaches to wrap an arm around her waist.

"I know."

[secondchances]

"... I like the outfit, by the way," she says after a moment of getting herself comfortable.

[assassino]

That gets the slightest huff of amusement.

"Grazie."

[secondchances]

"You're welcome."

She goes quiet, trying to think of something that doesn't have to do with gang wars or executed family.

"You're coming on the expedition, right? Please tell me you're coming."

[assassino]

"I was planning to. You are going too, yes?"

[secondchances]

"Awesome. Cass and I are going." Adventures in the wilderness with two of her favorite people? Hell yeah.

[assassino]

"Good," he replies. "I am taking Connor, too."

[secondchances]

"The four of us will have fun," she says, smiling. "I'm really looking forward to it."

[assassino]

"As am I. It will be nice, to see a change in scenery."

[secondchances]

"You can show me how a real man survives in the wild. Show me how to make a tent out of dead animals and sticks!"

[assassino]

"Real men do not need tents," he replies.

[secondchances]

"Oh, my bad. So Cass and I don't need to make room for you."

[assassino]

"No, no," he says in protest. "You should come and sleep under the stars with me. Unless, of course, you are too delicate...?"

[secondchances]

"Me? Delicate? Never. Sleeping under the stars it is." She knew that would get him sounding more like himself. "I suppose real mean don't get cold, though."

[assassino]

"Of course not. When have you seen me ill?"

[secondchances]

"So no need to keep you warm. That's good. I don't think Cass would want to share me, anyway."

[assassino]

"Hey, now. Just because I will not fall ill does not mean I will not want warmth."

[secondchances]

"Fine, fine. I'll have to see what we can do."

She nudges him. "I hope the idea of two of the cutest girls in Paradisa warming you up is making you feel better. At least a little bit."

[assassino]

"A little bit," he replies, nudging her back. "But it is certainly helping, at the very least."

[secondchances]

"Good. No letting the castle totally ruin today."
