Who: Jade Harley & Dave Strider
What: John is gone. Jade worries.
When: Shortly after John's departure.
Where: Cair Paradisa!
Rating: PG.
[ It's not easy losing a friend, even just to the magic of the castle. She liked to think that there were no alternate timelines about this place, nothing dooming or damning about the castle's magic, but it was still hard with John gone. She'd spent the past two years with him literally within arms' reach.
Rose had been affected deeply; Jade imagines that the same can probably be said for Dave, even if he won't admit it outright. It was easy to think about losing either of them, how gutted she'd be if they just up and disappeared.
So she flooded his journal with messages-
dave!!
dave
dave dave dave
daaaave come to my room
i am waiting on you XO
She had a surprise waiting. ]

Yeah, that was bad. That was a bad day. It wasn't even a week after that in which he discovered that Dirk had ollied the hell out too. He doesn't even know how crap his world is and he sure as hell doesn't know how to feel about being left his rocketboard. Whatever he's feeling, it ain't pretty.
When he gets the messages from Jade, he's trying his best to bury himself in his bitter feelings. Lemon party for one up in this bitch. He manages to ignore it for almost an hour before curiousity drags him out of his bitter attempt at sleeping into forever. He cleans himself up just enough to look like he isn't burdened with glorious angst and drags himself to her room.
He doesn't announce himself, he just knocks halfheartedly and leans against the opposite wall while he waits, arms folded over his chest.]

Not having that anymore is- jarring. John is gone, and she's still completely oblivious to Dirk's disappearance; regardless, she's smiling when she opens the door, hopeful. ]
Hi. I was afraid you were asleep.
no subject
He steps forward as she opens the door, rolling his shoulders in a lazy shrug. The poker face remains perfectly intact, even as she smiles, but he doesn't want to look like he's been sulking so he retorts in the least sullen manner he can.]
I was, I think I still am, too. Figured I better check the journal and make sure I didn't miss another earthquake. [He's going to try look around her.] What's the surprise?
no subject
I'm going to need you to remove your shoes first, thank you.
no subject
Hope you don't mind sock fungus. [Whatever. He uses his feet to remove his shoes, stepping out of them and picking them up.] You better hope this is worth it.

[ But she steps aside to allow him in, eyes rolling good naturedly. The floor to her room has been cleared, everything shoved aside and against the walls- and then expanded, even, to fit the giant, netted trampoline she has fit snugly into it. ]
I always wanted to play on one of these.

[He takes you for a lot of things, Jade. Only most of them are nice things and he doesn't feel like complimenting her when he's meant to be pissy. She makes it so very hard for him to sulk.
He can't stop his eyebrows from shooting up over his shades in surprise, though his mouth stays in a thin line. It's hard not to be impressed as he steps forward to inspect it.]
You went all out, huh? [For...him. He's...not going to read into that.]
no subject
[ She just trails off, shrugs. ]
If John leaving you bugs you half as much as it bothered him when you guys took off on the meteor, then.. I don't know. Just take your shoes off, would you?
[ Bluh. Feelings! They can talk about feelings later. Right now she just wants to shove Dave around on the trampoline and see if she can get something genuine out of him. ]
no subject
I don't know either. [Those are difficult thoughts, Jade. Don't make him feel things while he's growing himself a nice feeling cocoon.]
Nag nag nag. [He grumbles, but he's just being needlessly prickly and they both know it. He kicks off his shoes and nudges them to the side, stepping closer to the trampoline.] You first.
no subject
[ And, as instructed, she climbs up onto the trampoline and just looks expectantly at him. ]
C'mon, Dave, this is super boring alone.
no subject
Looks pretty fun from here. [That probably sounded more perverse than he meant it to, oops. He shrugs before stepping forward to push himself up onto the trampoline too.]
Last one to hit the ceiling is a rotten egg. [He's going to start bouncing.]
no subject
[ But he's on the trampoline, at least, even if he's pretty clearly still in not the greatest of moods... so she will just shove him. Lightly. Fight!! ]
no subject
[He grunts as he's shoved, bouncing a little on his heels before reaching out to push at her shoulder.]
Take that.
no subject
[ She bounces back onto the balls of her feet before leaning forward to shove him a little harder in return, a half-earnest attempt to get him to topple. ]
no subject
[He puts his hands over his chest defensively, protecting his precious moobs while trying to keep upright through her cruel bullying. In return, he's going to try and hook a leg around hers so he can trip her over. In the moment, he's kind of lost any sense of awkwardness he'd usually get whilst wrapping legs with a girl.]
no subject
Rude! You're being rude, Dave Strider!
no subject
Woah nelly- not cool! [He yells, scuffling his feet against the trampoline surface like he's an figure skater who forgot how to skate mid-act. Eventually his legs do give out an he slides down to bounce on his own as, trying to scoot away from Jade as he does.]
Now whose rude?
no subject
[ Don't mind her as she lunges at Dave, trying to bounce and jostle him as much as she possibly can. ]
