Who: Tsuna, Reborn and Martel
What: Martel patches the boys up
When: Monday, some time after the duo's run in with Bond.
Where: The clinic
Rating: PG-13
[Tsuna walked soundlessly next to Reborn as he guided them for the clinic. He thought for sure that the searing pain of the bullet would have made him cry, but once the adrenaline from running had worn off, he'd just felt... exhausted. The second day into this world change, and it already felt like his mind was slowly tearing at the seams.
One of the bullets had ricocheted and sunk into his shoulder, and the makeshift bandage that was Reborn's tie was stained red. Tsuna kept a firm grip on the wound, no only to minimize the blood loss, but because the pressure was the only way he could even remotely ease the pain.
Maybe he wouldn't cry because he didn't want to do it in front of Reborn. Pride... what a silly thing to have at a time like this, but it helped him keep his composure, keep moving on despite the things that had happened. And who knew what was going to happen next?]

With his forearm pressed to his stomach to staunch some of the bleeding he just, casually pushes Tsuna into the room, his pistol still out as he looks around the room for a familiar face, even if he's ready to shoot anything that well, looks ready to attack either of them.
So much for relaxing after escaping the blonde man.]

Martel does look up, when she hears someone come in, and her eyes widen when she sees Tsuna and Reborn and sees the blood. She gets up from her spot quickly, bringing the bandages with her and dumping them on the nearest flat surface to get to Tsuna, who looked like he was about to fall over and take his weight.]
What happened?
[Of course, she's already moving Tsuna towards the bed, and she'll come back after you if you don't follow, Reborn.]
no subject
[He gives a soft noise as she comes over to support him, and he tries not to put too much weight on her as she walks him over towards the bed.]
Someone... someone started shooting at me and Reborn.
[He casts a worried glance back at his tutor.]
Reborn...
[His eyes are on his arm. He took the hit so Tsuna didn't have to, but one of the bullets ended up ricocheting and getting him anyway.]
no subject
I'm fine, Tsuna.
[He tilts his head at Martel.]
Someone talking about pain and death, in a suit. Blonde man. Shot at me with little warning, the ricochet got Tsuna.
no subject
You are not fine, and you're next after Tsuna.
[She's already unwinding Reborn's tie from Tsuna's shoulder to get a look at it, knowing that she's going to have to remove the bullet. but at that description, she blinks and realizes who they're talking about. The man who got into a gunfight in the clinic a few hours before.]
...Oh. Him.
no subject
He doesn't say anything much, not to Martel to ask how bad it is, or how she knew that man or any of that. He's almost desensitized to the blurs at the edge of his vision by now. He just stares at a fixed point on the ground, feeling exhausted, his nerves frayed.]
no subject
But he does give Martel a look at that.]
Him?
no subject
She glances at the wound-it looks like a pretty clean to her, but she really doesn't know much about bullet wounds. It would make sense to her to take it out, but...]
Now here's where you have to help me, Reborn. Do I take the bullet out, or leave it in for now and just dress the wound? [She could do both equally, but she doesn't want to make this worse by doing the wrong thing.]
no subject
But then he's shaking his head.]
For the situation, if it looks fine for now then control the bleeding and dress it. The effort to take it out right now wouldn't be worth it if gunfights are happening in here.
no subject
Tsuna wasn't talking, though, and that wasn't particularly good. Martel knew he was exhausted, but she couldn't tell if it was because he had lost too much blood or if he was in shock. She watched him out of the corner of her eye for a moment, and then said:] Talk to me, Tsuna. About anything.
no subject
I'll... I'll be okay.
[He has to be okay. People were starting to attack one another on the ship. If he wasn't okay, he could become a burden, he could put his and Reborn's lives in danger again...]
no subject
No one's okay here, Tsuna. And no one is safe, not with what this place is doing, you can admit it.
[He won't, but Tsuna, well, Tsuna could and it'd be alright.]
no subject
[If all the injured already wasn't an indication, plus the fact that everybody was starting to see things. At least she was, out of the corner of her eye.]
Hiding it won't do any good. It will just make us worry about you more if you go quiet on us.
no subject
He takes deep breaths while Martel wraps the wound, because the pressure is painful, everything is painful. Everything is painful and uncertain and scary and he's just so tired of it all. He wants to go back to the safety of their home in Casa de Guts. Maybe even the safety of his home, his home on Earth, which was crazy and nerve-wracking and exhausting in its own way, but at least it was safer than this.
He doesn't say that, though, because he's scanning the room for familiar faces, and some are of great relief. Ino, Allen... they looked a bit worse for the wear, probably because of the mind tricks, but they were alright.
But...]
Where's Zelos?
[Was he out there? Out where that man who'd shot at them was? Was he with friends, was he okay?]
no subject
Maybe it'd be better for Tsuna if he did go home.
But then he's following his eyes too, and then staring at Martel before digging in his jacket for his journal, ignoring how blood smudges the pages from checking on his arm.
Where is Zelos? He just waits for Martel's answer, even if he doubts he'll find the answer in the journal.]
no subject
Even if she wished for peace for her world, she understood that people were going to die, and fighting was going to happen. Nothing was for free. People could be terrible to one another and bad things would happen. But Tsuna didn't understand that yet, she didn't think.
When they mention Zelos, though, she bites her lip and finishes up on Tsuna.]
I don't know. I think he's out with Colette and Lloyd, but I can't be sure.
[She turns to Reborn as she says that, as he's next, though she won't try until he gives her some indication. It was like telling her not to hug him after a battle. She knew he was probably wound after he and Tsuna had been attacked, being the paranoid hitman he was, and she had no intention of startling him.]
no subject
Was he experiencing blurs of movements and unsettling noises like he and Reborn had? Had that been enough to make him snap-- he'd just lost his nerves? No... it was probably something more.
The second day. Hopefully this wouldn't last much longer.
While Reborn flits through the journal, Tsuna worries his lip. The fresh pain of the wound is almost a happy distraction from the pain in his shoulder. Giotto wasn't here, either. Tsuna hadn't seen him since the world change, and he hadn't seen him on the journals, either. Was he okay, on that other ship? Or was he lost somewhere on this ship?]
no subject
Calm as ever, even as he shuts the journal after a look for Giotto, he puts his pistol on top of it. He takes a moment to think on what to say and gives Martel a nod, offering up his arm as he does. She's free to look it over, do what needs to be done he won't shoot, and he'll take a moment later to thank her for not approaching until he had shown he was fine with it.]
Primo hasn't asked about you, it's possible he's not here. [Not here, okay, somewhere safe. He didn't need another Vongola to worry over.]
no subject
...I hope you aren't as attached to this shirt as you are your hat.
[Banter is completely all right, okay, it makes this seem normal.]
no subject
Home?
As much as that twisted his gut, right now, Tsuna could say for certain that he would rather Giotto be back at home rather than having to deal with this...
And then his eyes come down to Reborn's arm. He hadn't given it more than a glance before, but it was messy and looked painful before Martel covered it. He could still remember clearly, the man raising his gun, and in nearly the same moment, Reborn raised his own arm in front of Tsuna and took the hit.
... if he hadn't, it would've caught Tsuna in the head.]
Reborn, you... you sacrificed your arm for me. You saved me...
no subject
If I was, I'd be a sorry man.
[He goes through them enough just in general. But then Tsuna's talking and he's well, okay, if there was a worry of him losing it (okay there might be with the way things are but details) he'd understand that wording. But it's not, at least not right now and he waves it some, ignoring the pain to show it's still working.]
Sacrifice? If I sacrifice a limb to save you, you'll know. [It's still attached to his body, gosh. If he were closer he'd be smacking you on the head for that wording, Tsuna.]
no subject
Don't worry, when we get out of here, [Not if, never if] we'll get the bullets out and I'll have you both healed up properly.
no subject
... I'm sorry. I.. I should've known something was wrong. If we hadn't stayed around, if.. if we'd just left...
[But he'd stayed, even when there was clearly something wrong, even when they were in a bad situation and Reborn was so tense, gripping his shoulder so tightly he might even have bruised him. All the signals were there that this wasn't a good place to be, but he'd stayed. Out of what? Concern for a complete stranger?
There's a pressure behind his eyes, and that indifference he's been building up towards this is starting to crack. But he won't cry. He can't cry.
He'll be fine. They'll all be fine. They have to be.]
no subject
Here they go, the heart of the problem. He'd been on edge the entire time on this ship, he couldn't blame Tsuna for wanting to help that was just Tsuna being Tsuna. So instead, because it's Reborn and feelings are hard and what is this talk going to do for them here, he casually bumps his shoulder against Tsuna's in lieu of hitting him on the head.]
If we had left you would worry about the man that shot us and what the problem was. If we had left he would have shot me in the back and then you. If we had left Martel would be staring at our bodies.
Wanting to help him saved us.
no subject
So Martel just moves over and goes back to bandaging his arm.]
no subject
His eyes widen slightly at that last statement. His concern had... saved them? Truly...?]
... Reborn...
[And he realized, again, this was Reborn helping him in his own way, making him feel better when he was at his lowest. And he didn't have to, that wasn't part of the job. Tsuna would recover on his own with or without his help.
When they arrived on the ship, he'd been Reborn's first priority. Without hesitation he'd allowed his arm to be shot to save Tsuna. And when he felt like he was falling apart, Reborn put him back together.
And despite still feeling pretty terrible, with an pain shooting through his arm, his mind playing tricks on him and violence and fear all around them, he gives a weak smile.
Because for all the shit he put his student through, Reborn took care of him just as much, and perhaps a tiny bit of Tsuna is starting to see what Martel and Zelos might have been getting the day before.]
... thanks, Reborn.
no subject
And if that meant his student figuring him out, well then maybe there was some hope for Tsuna yet.
But again, feelings are hard things to understand and he turns his attention back to Martel, shaking his head at her sigh and well yes. Being difficult while she wraps his arm up.]
Martel, don't be like that, it's not my fault my no-good student is clingy.
[By totally throwing Tsuna under the bus.]
no subject
[She doesn't even remotely fall for that, Reborn. But that tiny little smile on her face means that she doesn't mind that he moved. Not at all.]
no subject
He gives a hard sigh. Reborn, you really need to make up your mind about him.
... although, something else comes to mind with that little bit she says to Reborn. Infuriating man? Reborn didn't let anyone get away with calling him names like that. And he might have been wrong, but was there... a touch of fondness on her face?
............
No, no, no no no. Ino was wrong. They were just friends! But then... Reborn had had several lovers before, hadn't he? But, Martel was engaged, wasn't she? But her fiance had left...
Oh god he is so confused.]
no subject
[That's such a sigh there and no, he's not arguing the infuriating man bit. If he minded it he would have said something and that smile is enough to know she approves of what he did so he is full steam ahead on this entire thing.
And you know, ignoring Tsuna's confusion. And if Tsuna had listened to him before yes, he'd had so many ladies it wasn't even funny so why is him and Martel different?
Oh right, because she's engaged and he's not making a move there. Nope. Just friends.]
no subject
[Just from what she's seen with her and how he reacted. Of course, that statement could be taken two ways. She let it go, though, as she finished up his bandages. ]
There. Now, neither of you are allowed to get shot again. Healer's orders.
[She really didn't want them hurt again, and she definitely didn't want to have to look at their dead bodies, like Reborn had said to Tsuna. Doing that with Yuan was enough for her.]
no subject
He finally snaps out of it when Martel speaks, and he gives a tiny weak smile again. She was worried, wasn't she? About the both of them... Tsuna nods.]
We won't. We should probably stay in the clinic anyway...
[He feels absolutely drained. His eyes suddenly become half-lidded, and he slumps forward. A soft moan escapes him. He hadn't slept too well the night before, and both days had been exhausting. This one moreso than the first.]
'M so tired...
no subject
But then he's watching his student slump forward and he's just as quick to reach out and grab him, shaking his head at that. He forgets sometimes Tsuna isn't like him, he can continue running without sleep as an adult for a while yet, but he hasn't gotten Tsuna like that yet.]
Then come here, Tsuna, there's a bed and for now you can sleep. I'm not going anywhere.
no subject
[Safer than out there, at least. There's more people in the clinic, and now they had Reborn there.]
Hi I didn't forget about this I swear
