IT'S A BABY-BONANZA!

Good morning, residents! Did you sleep well? You're going to need all the energy you can muster because congratulations: You're parents! Again! The Paradisa Stork has paid some very lucky residents a visit last night, and even moved them to a more kid-friendly environment.

Some of you may already recognize your little bundle of joy and--my, how they've grown! Others will have to get acquainted with their little rugrats. You may not know them, but they certainly know you. By they way? They're bored. And hungry! And they want all the attention you could possibly give them.

It's going to be a long week.

He is. From what you've told me and I read in some of my older journals, I was legally adopted by Bruce. Which means he's also Bruce's grandson.

He'd have a heart attack.

He wouldn't. After you--disappeared, he tried to adopt me [Doesn't remember Bruce's second attempt, thanks to the castle.] His heart was really in it. The same way his heart was in it when he adopted Cass. I know he's not always the most emotional guy, but family means a lot to him.

No, I don't doubt that. I mean about [motions to the two--three--of them] this. Bruce is not the biggest Stephanie Brown fan, you know that. He'd have his big, big, big doubts.

Bruce has changed since he returned. He's more humanized and relaxed than he's been in years. You'd be surprised.

[that being said...] But, if this was taking place in Gotham and not here..then yeah, he'd have big, big doubts. All of us would.

... I slapped him, you know. When he came back. [TINY SMIRK...]

Yeah. No kiddies for us in Gotham. Not anytime soon. [And not with each other.]

[HOLD UP.]...You slapped Bruce?

[Puts her hands up.] The first thing he does when he comes back is put on some weirdo suit and try to test me. He deserved it.

I apologized, though.

That's good. [Bruce why do you keep doing these things...]

That you apologized, that is. [Pauses, adding in.] That was pretty gutsy of you.

I was pretty ticked. And scared, you know, that he'd try to take Batgirl away from me. Obviously, we came to an understanding.

There's no worry about Bruce's approval here. Just you, me, and Cass. [Smiles down at the little bundle in his arms.]

And Jack.

And Jack, for now, spared from grandpa Bruce turning white as a sheet.

We'll have to show him to Cass. I can only imagine what she'll say or do when she sees him. [GOING TO KEEP JACK AWAY FROM EZIO.]

I'll brace myself for adorableness. [SPEAK OF THE DEVIL.] Ezio would want to meet him, too. Might cheer him up.

[Just this look, Steph. Just this look.]

What?

What do you think. [the look is still going.]

What, me trying to cheer up a heartbroken guy who just lost his girlfriend of nearly a year? [Rounds up four months or so, whatevs.] We have an adorable castle-baby. C'mon.

Exactly. If you and Cass want to run around with Ezio all day, then that's your choice. But I'm not exposing Jack to someone who is a sexist, arrogant, and is probably drunk at this very moment.

He knows how to behave around children. He had a little brother.

Five minutes on his lap does not an Assassin make.

[....... OTHERWISE A LOT OF GIRLS IN ITALY WOULD BE ASSASSINS OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH]

I don't care. You're asking me to be okay with letting Jack, our son for however long he's here, be held by the same hands that have mercilessly killed who knows how many people.

[Shakes his head.]

I don't get you sometimes, Steph. You slap Bruce because he questioned your role as Batgirl, and now you're defending the equivalent of Jason Todd.

Which are, amazingly, somehow the same hands that have held mine and reassured me every time I was worried, sad, or upset before you showed up. I'm not a murderer or worse of a person for it. Gasp. It's not contagious.

[That was a little harsh, and she does look apologetic as soon as she says it, but she doesn't verbally apologize just yet. Maybe she would defend Jason, the older Jason, if he and her managed some mutual respect and trust like she has with Ezio.

But god forbid she say that aloud.]

I'm sure you would have said the same thing about Lucrezia's hands before the two of you had your falling out, which was over her associating with someone you thought was dangerous. After you spent months telling me to give her a chance.

[Tim doesn't even flinch at her previous comment.]

I'm sorry, Steph, but you don't get to call all the shots. You don't get to decide who is safe to hang out with and who isn't. Especially not when a child is involved.

[Wow. Wooooow, that is such a sore spot that Steph immediately stands up and steps away from Tim and the baby. Yelling is bad, yelling is not mature, yelling with a baby in the room is very, very bad.]

You--[She breathes through her teeth. Who was he, to talk to her like that? To bring up Lucrezia like that, especially after that insanity in space?]

You know what? Fine. Have fun, dad. Better you do this on your own so I don't get the baby stabbed in the back or concussed.

[She turns on her heel to storm out.]

[Tim watches her leaving. Even though he wants to go after her, he stays in the chair with Jack. Adjusts him in his arms, fixing his blanket so he's more comfortable.

One day he hopes that Steph understands where he is coming from. Ezio's hands are the hands of the murderer. The same hands that Captain Boomerang has. He's sure that Captain Boomerang has people who think he's a great guy, he's sure those hands have done all the things that she's explained, but that doesn't change the fact that he killed his father. Just like Jason Todd has killed fathers and he's sure Ezio has too.

Sighs to himself, closing his eyes over, and leaning back into his chair.]
