[Henry is doing research.

Between all he castle's changes and Arya's loss, he hasn't had a lot of time to do it. But today he's doing it out in one of the castle courtyards, because the library was stuffy, and the pup Robb gave him was antsy. He has books all around him, and a journal separate from the castle's open in his lap, where he's taking painstaking notes. August wanted to rewrite his book, the book the castle took from him, and he's going to make sure it's as complete as possible.

However, a disproportionate number of the books are open to 'Rumpelstiltskin.'

Henry's wolfdog pup, still full of energy, is running about around him, pawing at dirt and sticking his nose into bushes (and occasionally Henry's lap). But he never wanders too far away from Henry himself.

He comes close to nudge Henry's shoulder with his nose, and Henry reaches up to pat his head.]

Don't worry, boy, I'm almost done. We can race after.

Well, it's good to know at least somebody's pretending to be normal around here. [ Make that two people. ]

But being normal's not the fun part.

No? Then what's the fun part?

[fantasies]

Everything else! The weird stuff. Magic!

[nottallerordead]

[ She chuckles. Cute kid. ]

I dunno, I hear magic is more trouble than it's worth.

[fantasies]

[He nods, like he's well-versed in that already.]

Magic always has a price. But if you're careful, it can be a good thing.

[nottallerordead]

Uh huh. [ She raises an eyebrow. ] And you're sure you're not magic?

[fantasies]

Cross my heart. [He does so.] Magic is kinda complicated in my world. It exists, sort of, but not in the place where I'm from.

[nottallerordead]

How does that work?

[fantasies]

My world has other worlds in it. [He fists one hand and puts the other one over top of it, like a matryoshka doll.] Some of them have magic in them, but not all of them. Mine's one of the ones that doesn't.

[He did say it was complicated.]

[nottallerordead]

I thought that was how the whole universe worked. [ Since she's been to hell, and parts of heaven, and the Garden of Eden. It just made sense. ]

[fantasies]

Really? [He looks genuinely surprised.] Most people think it's weird.

[nottallerordead]

I guess I just read more science fiction than most people.

[fantasies]

[He squints at her.]

But magic is weird?

[nottallerordead]

The weirdest.

[fantasies]

You're weird.

[nottallerordead]

Didn't anyone tell you it's rude to call people weird?

[fantasies]

Yeah, but everybody here is kinda weird. So it works out.
