Who: Mal and anyone
What: Mal needs a drink. Badly.
When: After the Gentlemen
Where: The Death Match

Mal flops onto the barstool and throws his hand up to get the bartender's attention. He's so sick of death and dying, feels almost like it follows him wherever he goes, even to crazy planets called Paradisa that he's never heard of. He takes a slow sip of his drink, letting the liquor slide down his throat. Can't a man just get some peace?

A place with a living castle and magic journals is pretty much a common theme in Emma's life, but being sent here was a little much for her -- doesn't she ever get a break from it? No - no she doesn't. Which is why she's pretty happy when she finds a bar.

She slides onto a stool next to a man who is enjoying a drink, and Emma orders a drink as well. She takes a large sip of it when it's placed in front of her, and then turns her head slightly to look over at the man next to her.

"Some place, huh?"

"That's correct. Though places like this aren't exactly weird where I'm from ... sort of," She shrugs slightly. "Kind of a weird and long story," The story of the curse, and her being someone to save the town and break the curse, and everyone's double and forgotten lives, all seemed a bit much to try to explain to anyone.

"And you're not so new here?" She guesses. "If me being new is that obvious..." She teases lightly.

"If you like complicated stories and want to be left thinking I'm a nutjob, yeah, sure, anytime," She's serious, too, and he can't say she didn't give him a full disclaimer about the nutjob thing.

"Dirtside -- so you were in the Navy before here? I wouldn't know much about that; before coming here I was a bail bondsperson, then a sheriff," She lets out a small, amused, laugh at his next words. "Good to know I'm not quite so awkward that I stick out like a sore thumb, though. If sometimes taking large sips of beer makes me easily remembered, I guess that's something,"

"It does. But why stop there? Person who seems less like a nutjob buys a drink for the person with more nutjob credentials?"

She gives him a curious look. "I wouldn't have guessed spaceflight. And there's all that gravity to get used to here on land, too. I'm sure it's quite a change,"

"Excellent," She toasts the air in return.

"From what I've heard from people about this place so far, I can believe that. It's probably nice out in space too, at least you're up there with the planets and stars -- must be a great view. Looking up at the sky from the ground is still nice, but, to have front row seats? I'd take it,"

"I wouldn't turn that down. I'll look forward to it, then," It sounds like a lot of fun to her. "And there's pretty much no place where I've felt free exactly, so maybe it'll rub off of me too," She'd gone from place to place, never staying too long except in a couple of cases, and she had a history of people leaving her behind and writing her off. "I'm assuming you don't work for NASA?" The way he is talking, it didn't sound quite like he does, but she can't be sure.

"I'm more of a cross between two worlds kind of, but yeah, I mostly spent time in the earth that was last in the year 2013 when I came here," Like coming here was an actual choice she got to make, but whatever, point still stands.

And now it's her turn to look confused. "Earth that was? Someone start World War three?"
