The tension was not lost on Thorin. He bit the inside of his cheek, glancing analytically at Felix. This turn that the conversation seem to have taken didn't make the Dwarf trust or like this new companion any better than before. Thorin tipped his mug to his lips again, drinking the last of his ale.
"You're curious to know of my world? Frankly I'm surprised Lady Galadriel hasn't told you everything about it already," Thorin disliked even partially admitting that Galadriel knew more about Middle Earth than he did. The fact that he had referred to her as 'Lady' around others bothered him as well.
Glancing to his empty cup, the Dwarf silently wished for a refill. The mug refilled and Thorin took a long, loud slurp of ale. He was clearly stalling, not sure how much about himself he wanted to reveal to this new man.
"As I said, I am King Under the Mountain, rightful ruler of Erebor, greatest and richest of Dwarf kingdoms. I've faced a dragon, hordes of Orcs, and countless goblins," Thorin decided telling tales of his battle prowess would be a good place to start.
"In fact, I am called 'Oakenshield' because of one such battle. I led my people to reclaim one of our lost kingdoms, and we faced legions of Orcs. Their king, Azog the Pale Orc, disarmed me of my shield and sword. I grabbed an oaken branch and used it as a shield, until I was able to grab the nearest weapon and disarm Azog...quite literally."
Thorin couldn't help but smirk at the memory of defeating his enemy and leaving him maimed forever.
