It was one thing to gather accounts from everyone living in the castle, but quite another to go out and see them for yourself. That was the primary reason Howl was out today, wandering the grounds on the castle, first, before moving into the city itself.

He had a notebook with him, separate from his journal, and frequently paused to industriously scribble down a note or make some sketch of something of particular interest to him. And while he was still dressed in his usually over-elaborate style, his clothes were far more muted in tone than other--better to be safe than sorry when wandering into a city he no longer quite knew. It wouldn't do to startle any superstitious townsfolk, should they exist.

Howl had a way of drawing the eye. Tylendel maneuvered his horse - a sweet mare who did not get enough exercise - towards him and pulled her to a halt.

"You're not a bad artist." his tone was warm and friendly as he hopped down and grabbed the mare's reins, "Out to enjoy the open air? We couldn't pass up such a good day." he winked at the horse and she bobbed her head almost as if she were agreeing with him.

Howl looked up, and laughed a little. "Not a particularly good one, either, but well enough to serve my purposes, I suppose." In comparison to his handwriting, at least, which was a travesty of the worst sort.

"Something like that. Sometimes I need to get out of the workroom and stretch my legs."

There were no ladies for him to go courting, so mapping out the changed castle grounds and city would have to suffice, for now.
