Unhatched Plans
Who: Felix and Ashura
What: A brand new baby
When: May 10th
Where: Both of their rooms
Rating: Pg-13
Felix has been anticipating this time of year for months now. Part of him has been looking forward to it as much as he'd been dreading it, given that he'd shared a child with Ashura for three years and this time their status as a couple was far more nebulous. When he woke up to find an egg and a note, he wasn't sure if he was angry or relieved. Both emotions seemed to be getting a turn, and he hadn't quite settled on one by the time he had stuffed the egg into a large bag and made the trek to his former lover's room.
"Ashura," he said, knocking quietly and trying not to sound as unbalanced as he felt.

Both emotions seemed to be getting a turn, and he hadn't quite settled on one by the time he had stuffed the egg into a large bag and made the trek to his former lover's room.
"Ashura," he said, knocking quietly and trying not to sound as unbalanced as he felt.

Rising from his couch where he had been indulging in a novel purloined from the library, he made his way to the door and opened it. Felix was no surprise, but the thing he carried was.
"Is that supposed to be an invitation to breakfast?" he inquired, not really sure what else to make of it.
no subject
"If it was, this is not precisely what I would have suggested. As it is, I don't feel very much like eating," he said, and invited himself in.
no subject
Ashura made no protest to his entering and shut the door behind them.
"Tea?" he asked him, moving to sit on his couch once more and take up his own little cup of a delicious, airy morning brew. He sipped, considering the egg, wondering what it was about it that could have brought Felix to him.
no subject
"We may not have time for that," he said, handing the note to Ashura as soon as he could get his hands free.
no subject
He took the note and read it quickly, then looked in alarm at the egg and then at Felix.
"It can't be..." he said, making the connections very quickly. It did not take much effort, after all, and it had been awhile since they had seen their son... The egg cracked and Ashura started, staring at it with wide golden eyes. "Heavens.. What do you think will come out?" he asked, because if what the note suggested was true there wasn't exactly going to be a way to stop this from happening.
no subject
"Not what we expect," he answered, unable to shut out the note of tension in his voice. He also suspected it wouldn't be what he was hoping, but he was keeping that part to himself.
The egg rocked more violently and cracked.

"Should I get towels?" Ashura wondered aloud, as most births were quite messy affairs. Even as he asked the question a set of fluffy towels appeared beside the egg, Ashura ignoring them for the moment in favor of the rapidly cracking egg, bits of shell beginning to push out now.
"Come on little one, push," he encouraged, kneeling down to be at eye level with the creature, noting that he could see a bit of skin through a larger crack on the egg. Skin was good. That was not to abnormal, was it?
no subject
"Powers, what is that?" he said, as the unmistakably human part of the creature floundered and twisted to look up at them with eyes the color of embers.
no subject
"A... snake?" Ashura asked curiously, seeing the scales and the way they twisted behind the chubby child's upper body.
The little thing - boy? - managed to sit itself up as much as it could and blinked at them, eyes looking between them with the wide-eyed wondered of the newly born. It moved its little lips, little fingers flexing... and proceeded to begin wailing with all the force of any child every born.
"Oh dear, there there!" Ashura said, hurrying forward to scoop him up as he would have Ryuga, patting his little back that was smattered with scales.
no subject
"You can't be serious," he says, talking to the castle and Ashura more or less at the same time.
no subject
It was rather hard for Ashura to ignore a crying child, and this was a child of that he was certain - odd as it was. It bore no resemblance to their Ryuga, but even in this child he could see bits of himself and Felix. The babe calmed some as Ashura cradled him, the tiny, soft tail wrapping around his wrist.
"I rather think it is," he said, looking to Felix and then down at the child. "It's a bit... Odd this time around, isn't it? But look, he's being sweet."
no subject
"For now," he said, obviously dubious.
no subject
"I am sure he cannot be much more of a devil than Ryuga was," Ashura shook his head at the other man, the babe looking up at Felix over Ashura's shoulder and smiling shyly at the red haired wizard. "Maybe he will not move quite so fast since he has no legs?" he offered hopefully.
no subject
"Snakes can be very fast creatures," he added, obviously not assured.
no subject
"But a baby?" he asked him, continuing to rub his back and looked down at the tiny bundle of baby fat and scales in his arms. "Well, perhaps. Children are unnaturally fast it seems." He tugged a curl of bright red hair. "He has your hair."

"Well, if he has a Fire Talent like I do, it would not be odd," he pointed out, the baby looking to Felix and smiling, reaching out a pudgy hand and tapping at Felix's hand with a giggle. Ashura's golden eyes warmed and flickered. "See? He likes you."
