what kind of baby even is this

Who: Steph and Cass and Tonbaby
What: Steph and Cass get a Tonberry when their egg hatches. Hi...larity ensues?
When: May 10
Where: Steph's room,
Rating: Possibly R for attempted stabbing?

Cassandra finds the egg first, of course. It's in her room, seemingly harmless, and there's a note, so of course it's Cass who finds it. She doesn't even attempt to read it because it has Stephanie's name on it too and that's good enough. She just collects the egg and the note and walks down the stairs instead of scaling the wall, because what if she dropped it? That might be bad.

Or the beginning of a big breakfast. Probably bad, though. Balancing the egg in one arm, she knocks on Steph's door to be let in and tries very hard not to think about the fact that she can't just walk right in. Some days, she really misses the apartment in the city.

It's that time of the year. Stephanie's been feeling dread, on occasion, when she remembers that the castle is likely to saddle her with a child for a few weeks. The question was, whose baby this year? She's had three thus far, and this year especially she wants nothing to do with it. She doesn't have it in her, or so she thinks.

When she opens the door, she's half expecting to see a baby in someone's arms, but it's just Cass.... with an egg.

"If that's breakfast, I think you forgot to cook it."

"These better be cooking instructions..."

One glance tells her that they're not. They're much, much worse. Stephanie reads the note a few times, eyebrows lifting higher and higher on her forehead.

"Huh. This is definitely new."

Stephanie's relieved, in a way--no human baby. No crying, no tiny human to remind her of her loss. No awkwardness with a castle-baby-daddy. Instead, she has this.

"So, you know how we tend to get babies around this time of the year...?"
