The gift of life (or something)
Who: Vereesa and Razol
What: Dragon bird thing is born
When: Backdated to the baby plot!
Where: Vereesa's room
Rating: E for Everyone
After finding the "partner" chosen for her to hatch her egg with, the two sat and waited patiently for their new charge to emerge from its shell. Or, as patiently as possible when one doesn't know what to expect to hatch from a strange egg bestowed upon two strangers.
In all honesty, Vereesa was simply relieved that it wasn't an actual child. The mere thought of mothering someone that wasn't her beautiful twin boys was painful enough, and if the castle decided she should look after a pet instead, then so be it. It had been far too long since she'd had a chance to be a mother, anyway.
When the egg began to crack, her long ears perked and she leaned forward to watch. She looked expectantly to Razol.
"Ready or not, as they say."

She had never been a parent before, and had never thought she'd be one, even if it was in a weird way like this. Slaves didn't get to keep their children even if they had any, after all, and she had only been free for a few years.
She looked up, still just as unable to be actually still. "Who says that?"

"It's... an expression. Just something people say. It matters little."
Thankfully, her awkward explanation was cut short when a small beak emerged from the shell. It pecked and prodded, and little flakes of the shell began to fall to the table where the egg sat.
"A bird?"
When the head poked out, it exposed small, slimy scales, rather than feathers.
"Or not."

"Wow, that's cute!" She pokes the thing, very lightly, on the little head. She didn't want to hurt it by accident, and she did happen to be really strong, so no normal strength patting. "And tiny!"
