[ Gwaine has not been educated as to the fine art of wishing. This not only explains why he is not currently sitting atop a mountain of the most random collection of wished-for items since Spike the dragon grew several meters, but also why he is walking into the Lux and heading for the bar. He has no money on him and he is not used to drinking so much water so he is carefully eyeing the place. When he fails to spot anyone, he slides under and behind it. Stealing the first bottle he can find, he attempts to shuffle out without being seen, the bottle hidden against his chest. ]

It may be, if you would like. Have you been told of wishing? [She assumes not, or else he wouldn't be stealing.]

[ He glances behind him to The Lux. ]

Someone in there mentioned them. He said— [ He pauses, unsure whether to continue. Zelos had said magic was not illegal here, but he was still hesitant to reveal any information related to it. Infuriating though Zelos may have been, Gwaine had no desire to see him hunted for knowing magic. Looking back at Catelyn, he makes his decision. She mentioned wishing so she must not abhor it either, right? ] —he said he knew magic. He made an apple appear out of nowhere!

[More like she didn't think it existed before she got here. She smiles slightly.]

Perhaps he does know magic, but it isn't necessary to wish. You may try it yourself.

[impetuous]

[ His look speaks plainly his disbelief. It changes when he wishes for an apple and an apple falls into his hand. He drops it with a surprised cry. ]

[And she bends over, picks it up, and hands it to him.]

You see?

[impetuous]

[ He takes it, mouth open. ]

That's magic! I did magic! I can't do magic, but I did that!

[wintercat]

So there is no need to steal. I suggest you take that [gesture to the bottle. No she hasn't forgotten.] back where you found it and offer an apology.

[impetuous]

Oh. [ He looks down at the bottle before offering Cat a sheepish smile. ] I'll be right back.

[ He marches back into the Lux as if he were about to face an execution squad. ]

[And Catelyn will be waiting outside when he returns, smiling slightly.]

There. I placed it where I found it.

[ He holds both hands up level with his shoulders so she can see he is carrying nothing. ]

Good. Your mother would be proud, I'm sure. It's easier to make a mistake than it is to make amends.

[impetuous]

I lived with my sister. She would have given me a sound lashing.

[ His tone is matter-of-fact. ]

[She frowns, very slightly, her lips tightening into a thin little line.]

I think you are more than intelligent enough to learn without beatings.

[impetuous]

[ The corners of his lips lift in a shy smile before he drops his gaze to the floor. He shuffles his feet. ]
