Who: Alexis Castle and YOU
What: Working in the clinic. Alexis has a job there now. Come let herpractice on you help you heal! You probably hurt yourself playing in the snow anyway.
When: Saturday, June 14th
Where: the clinic
Rating: PG?
Alexis arrived at the clinic for her shift to find that they (fortunately?) didn't have any patients. She figured they'd get a few people today. The sudden influx of ice and snow meant that everyone was outside playing in it and probably also being stupid in it. It was fair to expect a few sprained ankles or mild frostbite that day.
She started by going through the stock of bandages, seeing what they had and if they needed to wish for me. Alexis was far from a doctor. She was far from a nurse, even. She volunteered because she wanted to help and she had at least some interest in medicine, even if it was more of the examining dead bodies variety. Live ones could be tricky. But she knew how to wrap an ankle. If anything more serious came in, she'd call Simon or Jennifer.

"Hello," he said pleasantly. "Need any help?"

"Hi. I think I'm good, but thanks." Her reply came as three of the bandages slipped out from the bottom of the pile and landed on the floor. "Uh. Well maybe a hand."
no subject
"I am relieved that you are here," he commented. "This clinic was low on personnel for quite some time- and it didn't help that Dr. Keller used to have a clinic in town, so I was divided between there and here. Even so... it is nice to have extra hands."

And she could learn on the job. Having two doctors as teachers would be beneficial. No, she wouldn't be performing surgeries by herself any time soon - she didn't want to, to be honest - but she would learn something. She'd probably learn more from them than she could from a book.
"Do you need me to get you anything? Coffee?"

"You mean because you're not here all the time?" she called over her shoulder.

"Either I am not here, or I am occupied elsewhere if a serious event has happened," he told her, remembering suddenly when Elsa had been brought in with a dismembered arm, the way her sister had arrived in a panic looking for her. "As much as I would like to be everywhere at once, I cannot be."

"Perhaps one day I will find that I am able to clone myself," he agreed. "Or a version of me from another universe will appear. Two is better than one, as they say, after all."

Alexis didn't think she would like that. It would be weird, even if she would have a lot of questions for her other self.

"It was... and frustrating. They all seemed to remember different things beyond a certain point in our shared past, and she had a different loss each time. It was hard for her to acclimate to things in our life before this... and Paradisa made it worse for her."

Simon hadn't given her a lot of details on his sister but from what Alexis gathered, she seemed "special", moreso in that she had some kind of mental disturbance rather than an intellectual disability. Alexis wouldn't pry though.
"I guess I'm lucky to have family here, and all of us on relatively the same page."

"My sister... is mentally ill," he said, by way of explanation. "It makes me worry about her, no matter what world she is in. At least she has never been here without me for very long."
He cleared his throat, hoping this hadn't gone into awkward territory too fast.
"It is nice," Simon agreed. "And as much as I do miss my sister, I am not alone here, at least. I have become close to others in my time here."
no subject
"I can see why you're worried about her then. Is there anyone back home to look out for her?"
no subject
"All the rest of my crew would," he said. "As far as I've been able to tell, though, time freezes when we are brought here. My sister never mentioned me having been gone all the times she came here, and similar things have proven true for many others I have spoken to."
