Who: Conan and anyone who would have reason to go looking for him
Where: His room, #308
What: An attempt to destroy his journal. For science.
When: Now.
It was time.
Ever since Jennifer's comment to his own younger self, Conan had been thinking about this. For the last few weeks he had been carefully weighing the risks and benefits. There was a possibility that there could be consequences from the castle for deliberately choosing to destroy a journal. There was a possibility that doing this would permanently destroy his own journal, and the useful communication (and eavesdropping).
But the chance at discovering even the smallest hint of how the journal network functioned was too interesting to resist.
Conan carefully checks to make sure his door is closed, then moves to his desk and lays out his journal and some tools. A few scalpels of different sizes, a bright light, and a magnifying glass. He adjusts the light until it shines directly on the journal.
And then he carefully begins to cut the endpapers away from the spine.

A sound which is probably very familiar at this point.
"Yo, Conan. What's up?" Dairine says from where she suddenly materialized.
no subject
"Is it really so difficult to use the door?"
no subject
Not that it would make much difference to her. She's unlocked his door multiple times, even when he's changed locks.
no subject
That was a hint, Dairine.

"What're you up to?"
no subject
He shrugs.
"I have my reasons."
no subject
"Is that the journal?"

At least not by him. If the Doctor was any other type of man, he might think that he was being avoided by Conan. Preposterous, of course, why ever would Conan do that?
Today finds the Doctor knocking on Conan's door, dropping by to see how he is doing.

"Hello. Not busy, are you?"

"Sorry, I've been busy recently."
But nothing that he wanted to talk about in the hallway.
no subject
"Thank you. Being a shut-in doesn't suit you. What have you been up to?"
no subject
And trying to lay low. He did not want to get caught and cornered for questions by any of the people he'd run into on his recent deaging loss.
Especially Galadriel.

So with that, she finally decided to check up on him- it was either that or keep brooding.
"Conan, it's me. You there?"

"Are you doing okay? You've been pretty quiet lately..."
no subject
He puts his work aside and turns off the lamp.
no subject
"But you're keeping busy, I hope?" she asked him pointedly.
no subject
He sounded faintly smug.
no subject
"Do I even want to ask? Or, more to the point, are you going to share?"
