There was a rescue mission going on in the lobby- at least, that was what Castle had fancied was going on. In reality, all he'd done was wish up a remote controlled toy helicopter, along with some action figures, and cordoned off a small area to pile up scraps of wood and fabric to make "mountains" and a "river". His brave helicopter men were rescuing stranded people, all complete with running commentary in different voices.

"Aaaand there's another poor sap stuck in the river, Ralph, there's a right deluge of them today. Haw haw haw!" "Harr harr, Dave. Bring us in closer and I'll scoop this one up, too. Let's hope they're not on fire like the last one." "Just be careful of those laser-shooting sharks, yeah?" "Right. Poor Charlie..."

Danny had no clue what he had just walked in on, and he wasn't sure that he wanted to know.

"Um, are you feeling okay?"

"I am feeling fine!" Castle grinned, steering the helicopter to the floor. "In fact, I have cured that insidious feeling of boredom!"

By playing with helicopters?

"Why not?" Castle took a deep breath and turned toward his new companion. "I did it back home, too- I lived in a pretty big loft, so I had lots of airspace. I figured why not take advantage of it here?"

"Huh, I guess that makes sense. Though I'm more partial to spaceships."

"Hmmm... spaceships..." Oh, dear, the wheels in Castle's head were turning. "Maybe... aliens are invading... and our brave helicopter crew has to go after their ship..."

"...I'm really hoping the castle doesn't decide to take notes."

Because aliens were one of the many things Danny had had bad experiences with in Paradisa.

"Touche," Castle replied with a grimace. "I feel like I've tempted fate plenty lately."

Alexis should have known what was happening based on the buzzing she heard as she walked through the lobby. It took stepping on a toy soldier and then looking up find her father manning a remote control to put the pieces together.

"Dad."

What are you doing?

"Hey, sweetie." Castle waved at her over his shoulder, steering the chopper to safety outside his crude construction and turning to face her. "... Care to join me?"

Alexis eyed the display warily. Her dad had no shame. She liked that about him, usually, but was he really going to play with remote control helicopters in the middle of the lobby?

And yet she finds herself asking: "Do you have an extra plane?"

"Always. Want to be the rescue chopper, or the evil enemy spies who are here to stop our intrepid heroes?"

"I'll help rescue," she replied, picking up the controller for a helicopter. It had been a long time since she had played this game with him. "What's the story so far?"

Castle threw his arm around Alexis and hugged her close, thankful that she was so readily going along with him. It was one of the things that made her great.

"It's a flood in the mountainside caused by Godzilla's mountain-dwelling cousin, Rockzilla, stirring. Our heroes are helping people trapped in the flood before the evil enemy spies can fully wake up our stone-covered lizard friend."

Yeah, Castle. He just better hope that none of her friends come down here during this or she'll drop the controller and run. Alexis turned her helicopter on and sent it a few feet in the air.

"Wait, the spies work for Rockzilla?"

"'course they do!" Castle affirmed. "It's just like in the movies, where the bad guys want to raise the monster because they think they and they alone can control him. ... come to think of it, I should probably be sending troops into the mountains to stop them..."

April can join him... or she can make fun of him.

She chooses to make fun. (Even though she does think it's kind of funny in a non-mocking way, too. As much as she likes teasing people for... everything, she's definitely a fan of doing what you want, regardless of whether it's silly or childish or stupid.)

"You should make a graveyard next. For the dead ones."

"But none of them have died yet," Castle reassured her. "My rescue team is very good at what they do."

"What about Charlie?" She circles around him, looking down at the Lego scene. "Laser sharks are deadly."

"Oh, right," Castle amended himself. "Well, it's been a few hours since the last accident, then. Which is a good rate when you're dealing with laser sharks. I plan on having Gandalf do battle with the sharks so he can rescue their souls anyway."

"If I were Charlie, I'd come back and haunt you for forgetting about me."

Angry ghosts are prone to doing that, she figures. It's just common sense.

Castle snorted, then laughed aloud.

"And now I'm thinking about bringing in ghosts... or zombies," he replied. "Of course, that could get too complicated too quick. ... and kinda messy. Plastic carnage everywhere."

"Do they make Lego ghosts? ... If they don't, can you wish for something that doesn't exist?" That's one thing she hasn't tried yet.

Wow! Look! Meg is somewhere beside her room or the Death Match! Will wonders ever cease??? She's just out creeping around people watching, and... well then. She saunters up to her friend and looks down at his little setup, utterly amused?

"Seriously?"

Then again, this is Castle we're talking about.

"Seriously," Castle said, not even turning around, as he knew who it was. "Really, are you surprised, given how long you've known me?"
